Steganography is used for secret or covert communication. A graph wavelet transform-based steganography using graph signal processing (GSP) is presented, which results in better visual quality stego image as well as extracted secret image. In the proposed scheme, graph wavelet transforms of both the cover image and transformed secret image (using Arnold cat map) are taken followed by alpha blending operation. The GSP-based inverse wavelet transform is performed on the resulting image, to get the stego image. Here, the use of GSP increases the inter-pixel correlation that results in better visual quality stego and extracted secret image as shown in simulation results. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is more robust than other existing steganography techniques.

Efficient image steganography using graph signal processing

Steganography is an application for concealed writing. Nowadays, development in the field of electronic media demands highly secure data transfer between computers over the globe. There is a pressing demand to send the secret information in the hidden form. Conceal writing is an ultimate feature of steganography which fulfills this demand. In general; a robust steganography scheme should have better visual imperceptibility of the hidden information with sufficient payload. In this paper, a steganography method based on cryptography is proposed. The proposed scheme uses two processes; first, encrypt the secret plaintext (PT) message followed by secret image generation from this encrypted message. Second, hide this secret image into the cover image using Daubechies discrete wavelet transform operation followed by mixing operation. After performing the Daubechies inverse discrete wavelet transform (IDWT) process, we get the stego image. Stego image visual quality is increased by using Daubechies wavelet. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is shown by experimental results.

Highly Secure DWT Steganography Scheme for Encrypted Data Hiding

Steganography can be defined as the art and science of concealing private data within a carrier that could be a video, an image, an audio or a text that acts as a cover medium. Many steganography techniques exist; each has its own advantages and limitations. Capacity, robustness and the overall level of security are among the main factors to assess the performance of steganography algorithms. Also, the level of the stego-image distortion should be acceptable This paper aims at proposing a high capacity and efficient steganography technique, where binary images, color images, and large text files can be all concealed within a single cover image at the same time using Haar Wavelet transform. A high capacity of about 99% has been achieved using the proposed algorithm, with low mean square error (MSE) and high power signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). This algorithm is developed with the aid of MATLAB environment. The obtained results from the proposed algorithm have been promising in terms of efficiency, performance, and capacity.

High-capacity image steganography based on Haar DWT for hiding miscellaneous data

Steganography is a capability which conceals the top-secret information into cover media (e.g., digital images, sound files etc.,). This Paper presents a secure, higher embedding capacity Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) based technique. Before embedding correlation in between cover and the secret image is increased by multiplying some variable (i.e., 1/k) to the secret image. In embedding process, the Daubechies DWT of both Arnold transformed secret and cover images are taken followed by alpha blending operation. Arnold is a type of scrambling process which increases the confidentiality of secret image and alpha blending is a type of mixing operation of two images, the alpha value indicates the amount of secret image is embedded into the cover image. Daubechies Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transformation (IDWT) of the resulting image is performed to obtain the stego image. Smoothing operation inspired by the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to improve the quality of stego-image by minimizing Mean square error and morphological operation is used to extract the image component from the extracted secret image. Simulation results of the proposed steganography technique are also presented. The projected method is calculated on different parameters of image visual quality measurements

A Daubechies DWT Based Image Steganography Using Smoothing Operation

This paper offers a naive data security method using cryptography and image steganography schemes. The ciphertext message image is treated as secret image of steganographic encoding. In this proposed steganographic encoding scheme, both the secret image and cover image are blended together using the mixing operation that results as stego-image. Use of cryptography scheme embeds excellent security in the steganography scheme and also offers two level of security, whenever required. The strength of the proposed hybrid data hiding scheme is tested on different parameters that are shown in result part of the paper.

Hybrid Secure Data Transfer Scheme Using Cryptography and Steganography

steganography is the art and science of hiding secret image into digital media such that no one apart from the intended recipient is able to detect the existence of the information. There are many different carriers that can be used to hide the information such as digital images, videos, sound files and other computer files but digital images are the most popular. In this paper, a method has been proposed using which a large size secret image can be hidden into small size cover image securely. The main aim here is the absolute invisibility of the large size secret image. The secret image is first scrambled by using Arnold transformation. Haar Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) is then applied on cover image and Arnold transformed secret image, followed by Alpha Blending operation. Then the Haar Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transformation (IDWT) is applied to obtain the stego image. At the receiver side, first the cover image is obtained from the stego image. Then Haar DWT is applied on the cover image and the stego image followed by the alpha blending operation. Haar IDWT is applied on the resulting image. Then by applying Arnold transformation, the secret image is obtained. The proposed method does not require the sender to send the cover image to the receiver for obtaining the secret image. The performance of the proposed method is investigated by comparing the cover image and the stego image in terms of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE) and Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC). Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method.

Eliminating Cover Image Requirement in Discrete Wavelet Transform based Digital Image Steganography

A novel steganography method has been proposed for digital images based on Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT). The proposed method consists of two processesthe encoding process and the decoding process. The encoding process is used by the sender for embedding the secret message in the cover image resulting in a stego image. This stego image is send to the intended recipient. The decoding process is used by the recipient for extracting the secret message that is hidden in the stego image. We have successfully implemented the proposed steganography method on digital images based on integer wavelet transform and compared the performance of proposed method with discrete wavelet transform based digital image steganography by using statistical parameters such as peak-signal-to-noiseratio (PSNR), mean square error (MSE) and normalized cross correlation (NCC). The experimental results demonstrate that the quality of stego image is improved in the proposed method by the use of integer wavelet transform.
