In vitro studies of natural killer cell activity in post traumatic stress disorder patients. Response to methionine-enkephalin challenge

TL;DR: Findings may suggest that the "stress factor" in Vietnam veterans with PTSD plays a role in downmodulating NK lytic function in response to an in vitro MET challenge, an effect that appears to be potentiated by the use of drugs of abuse other than alcohol.
Journal ArticleDOI

Natural killer cell activity in patients with septic shock

TL;DR: Examining NKC activity (NKCA) in a population of septic shock patients in critical conditions and compare it with values obtained from a group of normal volunteers shows the importance of these cells as an in vivo defense system against disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decreased plasma methionine-enkephalin levels in cluster headache patients.

TL;DR: Results from a longitudinal study shows that the concentration of platelet-poor plasma (PPP) methionine5–enkephalin (MET) in healthy, drug-free, white male individuals (n = 5) remains within a relatively narrow range, well within the experimental error of the analytical procedures used.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in plasma methionine-enkephalin levels associated with a cluster headache episode.

TL;DR: Neither age, time of CH occurrence, nor patient’s use of a number of medications known for failing to influence plasma MET degradation kinetics seemed to significantly influence MET levels, which might help in the biochemical characterization of the actual phases of a CH episode.
Journal ArticleDOI

Does Virtual Reality Trigger Visits and Booking Holiday Travel Packages?

TL;DR: In this article , the authors compare the visit intentions evoked and the process of booking holiday travel packages between an immersive virtual reality environment (displayed through Oculus head-mounted glasses) and a traditional web-based 2D platform.
