Mental health & maltreatment risk of children with special educational needs during COVID-19

TL;DR: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of children with special educational needs (SEN) and their maltreatment risk was examined in this paper , showing that children with SEN had significantly poorer overall quality of life (68.05 vs 80.65, p < 0.01).

The Association Between Child Abuse and Attempted Suicide.

TL;DR: There is a significant association between child abuse and suicide attempts in Hong Kong and this study demonstrates that hospital admission records are a critical source for identifying children with a high risk for suicidal behavior and may inform policy makers that additional and long-term intervention programs should be provided to children so as to reduce subsequent suicide attempts.

Prevalence of strabismus and its risk factors among school aged children: The Hong Kong Children Eye Study.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper determined the prevalence of strabismus and its risk factors among school children in Hong Kong and found that early correction of refractive errors and avoidance of maternal smoking during pregnancy are potentially helpful in preventing strabus.
