Low-grade glial neoplasms and intractable partial epilepsy: Efficacy of surgical treatment

TL;DR: Patients with complete tumor resection and no interictal epileptiform activity on postoperative EEG studies had the best operative outcome in a retrospective study of 51 consecutive patients who underwent operation for intractable partial epilepsy related to low‐grade intracerebral neoplasms between 1984 and 1990.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bacterial (Suppurative) Arthritis in the Adult

TL;DR: Treatment must be based on proper bacteriologic diagnosis, selection of appropriate antibacterial agents, and drainage of the affected joint, if the disease progresses, then excision of all infected material is necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surgical Treatment for Epilepsy in Cerebral Tuberous Sclerosis

TL;DR: It is suggested that epilepsy surgery may be beneficial in selected patients with TSC despite multifocal EEG and neuroimaging abnormalities, and postoperative EEG recordings showed absence of epileptiform abnormalities in the 5 patients who are seizure‐free.
Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment of Primary Osteoporosis With Fluoride and Calcium: Clinical Tolerance and Fracture Occurrence

TL;DR: Until long-term safety and antifracture efficacy are better established, the sodium fluoride, calcium supplements, and vitamin D regimen should continue to be restricted to investigational use.
Journal ArticleDOI

Smoothened signal transduction is promoted by G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2.

TL;DR: It is found that G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2 (GRK2) promotes the association between active Smoothened and β-arrestin 2, and Gli-dependent signaling, mediated by coexpression of Smoothensed and GRK2, is diminished by β-arsenin 2 knockdown with shRNA.
