In this paper, experimental investigations and analysis is presented to measure the temperature and temperature profile of gaseous flames using lensless Fourier transform digital holographic interferometry. The evaluations of the experimental results give the accuracy, sensitivity, spatial resolution, and range of measurements to be well within the experimental limits. Details of the experimental results and analysis are presented.

Digital holographic interferometry for measurement of temperature in axisymmetric flames

We present shearing interferometry and Fourier analysis techniques to measure the temperature and temperature profile of a gaseous burner flame. The methodology is expected to give a better accuracy than techniques that use the location of fringe centers because of the complete separation of phase from the unwanted irradiance variations.

Measurement of temperature of an axisymmetric flame using shearing interferometry and Fourier fringe analysis technique

Heterodyne holographic interferometry is employed to measure refractive-index distributions in transparent media. A system using a He–Ne laser and relatively modest electronic instrumentation is described. The system was used to measure temperature and specie-concentration distribution in natural convection boundary layers in air adjacent to heated surfaces through which a second gas is emitted or injected.
