Journal ArticleDOI

The effectiveness of interpersonal skills training on the social skill acquisition of moderately and mildly retarded adults

TL;DR: Moderate and mildly retarded adults acquired new social skills as evidenced by performance on a situation role play assessment but did not result in significant group differences when assessed in a more natural setting (i.e., local grocery store).
Journal Article

The Effect of Person Centered Planning Activities on the IEP/Transition Planning Process.

TL;DR: Miner et al. as mentioned in this paper evaluated the impact of person centered planning activities on several variables associated with the student's transition planning and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting, but not on discussion of post-school issues during these meetings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulated and community-based instruction involving persons with mild and moderate mental retardation.

TL;DR: The effectiveness of instructional simulations for teaching functional living skills does not appear to be uniform across level of retardation and targeted tasks, and the highest priority question no longer appears to be whether or not simulated versus community-based instruction is more efficacious.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effectiveness of three sets of school-based instructional materials and community training on the acquisition and generalization of community laundry skills by students with severe handicaps.

TL;DR: Direct training in one of the community settings resulted in more efficient acquisition of the laundry skills and enhanced generalization to the untrained laundromat setting for most of the students.
Journal Article

Improving the Work Performance of Severely/Profoundly Retarded Young Adults: The Use of a Changing Criterion Procedural Design.

TL;DR: In this paper, Hartman et al. demonstrated the feasibility of using a changing criterion procedure for increasing the work production rates of severely/profoundly retarded workers in vocational training programs.
