Journal ArticleDOI
Sub-barrier Fusion of 6He with 209Bi
J. J. Kolata,Valdir Guimaraes,D. Peterson,P. Santi,R. White-Stevens,Paul DeYoung,Graham F. Peaslee,B. Hughey,B. Atalla,M. Kern,P.L. Jolivette,J.A. Zimmerman,M. Y. Lee,F. D. Becchetti,Elí F. Aguilera,E. Martinez-Quiroz,Jerry Hinnefeld +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it is suggested that this enhancement may arise from coupling to positive $Q$ value neutron transfer channels, resulting in ''neutron flow'' between the projectile and the target.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for a doubly magic 24O
C. R. Hoffman,Thomas Baumann,D. Bazin,J. A. Brown,G. Christian,D. Denby,Paul DeYoung,Joseph E. Finck,Nathan Frank,Jerry Hinnefeld,S. Mosby,W. A. Peters,Warren F. Rogers,Andreas Schiller,Artemis Spyrou,M. J. Scott,S. L. Tabor,Michael Thoennessen,P. Voss +18 more
TL;DR: The decay energy spectrum for 24O (Z = 8, N = 16 ) has been observed for the first time in this article, and the resonance energy of the lowest lying state, interpreted as the 2 + level, was observed at a decay energy above 600 keV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transfer and/or breakup modes in the 6He+209Bi reaction near the coulomb barrier
Elí F. Aguilera,J. J. Kolata,Filomena Nunes,Filomena Nunes,F. D. Becchetti,Paul DeYoung,Matthew J. Goupell,Valdir Guimaraes,B. Hughey,M. Y. Lee,D. Lizcano,E. Martinez-Quiroz,A. Nowlin,T.W. O'Donnell,Graham F. Peaslee,D. Peterson,P. Santi,R. White-Stevens +17 more
TL;DR: Reaction products from the interaction of 6He with 209Bi have been measured at energies near the Coulomb barrier and a 4He group of remarkable intensity, which dominates the total reaction cross section, has been observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reaction cross sections for B-8, Be-7, and Li-6 + Ni-58 near the Coulomb barrier: Proton-halo effects
Elí F. Aguilera,E. Martinez-Quiroz,D. Lizcano,A. Gómez-Camacho,J. J. Kolata,Larry Lamm,Valdir Guimaraes,Rubens Lichtenthäler,O. Camargo,F. D. Becchetti,Hao Jiang,Paul DeYoung,Patrick J. Mears,T.L. Belyaeva +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, optical-model fits were made to the experimental angular distributions, and total reaction cross sections were deduced, and a comparison with other systems provides striking evidence for proton-halo effects on $8}mathrm{B} reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elastic scattering and transfer in the 6 He + 209 Bi system below the Coulomb barrier
Elí F. Aguilera,J. J. Kolata,F. D. Becchetti,Paul DeYoung,Jerry Hinnefeld,Á Horváth,Larry Lamm,Hye Young Lee,D. Lizcano,E. Martinez-Quiroz,Peter Mohr,T.W. O'Donnell,D.A. Roberts,Grigory Rogachev +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured a total cross section of nearly 200 mb for this group at 6 MeV below the Coulomb barrier, which is consistent with the total reaction cross section deduced from a simultaneously-measured elastic scattering angular distribution.
