Vertebroplasty versus conservative treatment in acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (Vertos II): an open-label randomised trial
Caroline A. H. Klazen,Paul N.M. Lohle,Jolanda De Vries,Frits H. Jansen,Alexander V. Tielbeek,M. C. Blonk,Alexander Venmans,Willem Jan J. van Rooij,Marinus C. Schoemaker,Job R. Juttmann,Tjoen H. Lo,Harald J. J. Verhaar,Yolanda van der Graaf,Kaspar J. van Everdingen,Alex F. Muller,Otto E. H. Elgersma,Dirk R. Halkema,H. Fransen,Xavier Janssens,Erik Buskens,Willem P.Th.M. Mali +20 more
TL;DR: In a subgroup of patients with acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures and persistent pain, percutaneous vertebroplasty is effective and safe and is significantly greater than that achieved with conservative treatment, at an acceptable cost.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Risk of New Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures in the Year after Percutaneous Vertebroplasty
Maurits Voormolen,Paul N.M. Lohle,Job R. Juttmann,Yolanda van der Graaf,H. Fransen,Leo E.H. Lampmann +5 more
TL;DR: Assessment of the incidence, location, and possible causative mechanisms of new vertebral compression fractures in 66 symptomatic patients with osteoporotic VCFs treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty found the presence of more than two preexisting V CFs was the only independent risk factor for the development of a new VCF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vertebroplasty versus sham procedure for painful acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (VERTOS IV): randomised sham controlled clinical trial.
Cristina E. Firanescu,Jolanda De Vries,Paul Lodder,Alexander Venmans,Marinus C. Schoemaker,Albert J Smeet,Esther Donga,Job R. Juttmann,Caroline A H Klazen,Otto E. H. Elgersma,Frits H. Jansen,Alexander V. Tielbeek,Issam Boukrab,Karen Schonenberg,Willem Jan J. van Rooij,Joshua A Hirsch,Paul N.M. Lohle +16 more
TL;DR: Percutaneous vertebroplasty did not result in statistically significantly greater pain relief than a sham procedure during 12 months’ follow-up among patients with acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.
Journal ArticleDOI
AMS INSIGHT—Absorbable Metal Stent Implantation for Treatment of Below-the-Knee Critical Limb Ischemia: 6-Month Analysis
Marc Bosiers,Patrick Peeters,O d'Archambeau,Jeroen M.H. Hendriks,Ernst Pilger,Christoph Düber,Thomas Zeller,Andreas Gussmann,Paul N.M. Lohle,Erich Minar,Dierk Scheinert,Klaus A. Hausegger,Karl-Ludwig Schulte,Jürgen Verbist,Koen Deloose,Johannes Lammer +15 more
TL;DR: Although the present study indicates that the AMS technology can be safely applied, it did not demonstrate efficacy in long-term patency over standard PTA in the infrapopliteal vessels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving Diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis: Results of a Diagnostic Pathway with Standard Use of Ultrasonography Followed by Selective Use of CT
Pieter Poortman,Henk J.M. Oostvogel,Eelke Bosma,Paul N.M. Lohle,Miguel A. Cuesta,Elly S.M. de Lange-de Klerk,Jaap F. Hamming +6 more
TL;DR: A diagnostic pathway using primary graded compression US and complementary multidetector CT in a general community teaching hospital yields a high diagnostic accuracy for acute appendicitis without adverse events from delay in treatment.
