Journal ArticleDOI

An oat bran meal influences blood insulin levels and related gene sets in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy subjects

TL;DR: Investigation of changes in gene expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from healthy subjects after consumption of an oat bran-rich meal found affected gene expression for genes mainly involved in metabolic stress; indicating increased inflammation due to the switch from fasting to fed state.
Journal ArticleDOI

On an Inverse Problem from Magnetic Resonance Elastic Imaging

TL;DR: The validity of the Newton-Kantorovich and optimization methods for the computational solution of this inverse problem is directly linked to the Frechet differentiability of the appropriate nonlinear operator, which is justified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Respiratory symptoms are poor predictors of concomitant chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome.

TL;DR: Since pulmonary involvement in pSS is associated with an increased mortality and respiratory symptoms is a poor marker for pulmonary involvement, it is suggested that pulmonary function tests should be performed liberally in all pSS patients regardless of symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Smoking, disease characteristics and serum cytokine levels in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome.

TL;DR: A negative association between ever smoking and positive lip biopsy was found, confirming previous reports, and expected differences in cytokine levels compared to controls were noted, but no major differences were found between ever and never smoking pSS patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiplex cytokine analyses in patients with rheumatoid arthritis require use of agents blocking heterophilic antibody activity.

TL;DR: In RA patients treated with adalimumab, changes in interleukin (IL)-6 levels between baseline and follow-up correlated with changes in erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in sera with added HeteroBlock.
