Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of increased dietary carbohydrate on selenium metabolism and toxicity in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri).

TL;DR: The development of renal calcinosis and the copper interactions suggest a variety of toxic effects of selenium on trout that may all be responsible for the observed changes in growth and feed efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acute toxicity, uptake, depuration and tissue distribution of tri-n-butyltin in rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri.

TL;DR: The tri-n -butyltin cation (Bu 3 Sn + ), the active ingredient in organotin-containing antifouling paints, was highly toxic to rainbow trout as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temperature-induced changes in pentachlorophenol chronic toxicity to early ufe stages of rainbow trout

TL;DR: This article found that pentachlorophenol exposure after hatch resulted in significantly elevated mortality, reduced growth rates and reduced yolk sac resorption efficiency, and these effects were again greatest in the cold regime (6°C) compared to the warm (15°C).
Book ChapterDOI

Qsar Studies On Chlorophenols, Chlorobenzenes and Para-Substituted Phenols

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the acute toxicities of chlorophenols (CPs) chlorobenzenes (CBs) and para-substituted phenols (PPs) to rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) as intraperitoneal injection lethality, serum sorbitol dehydrogenase activity, and 96-hr lethal concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mirex in the North American Great Lakes: New Detections and Their Confirmation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report new and confirmed measurements of mirex in water and fish samples from other Great Lakes, specifically Lakes Erie, Huron, Michigan, and Isle Royale on Lake Superior.
