The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems of providing a user-selectable list of disparately hosted applications. A device intermediary to a client and one or more servers may receive a user request to access a list of applications published to the user. The device may communicate to the client the list of published applications available to the user, the list comprising graphical icons corresponding to disparately hosted applications, at least one graphical icon corresponding to a third-party hosted application of the disparately hosted applications, the third party hosted application served by a remote third-party server. The device may receive a selection from the user of the at least one graphical icon. The device may communicate, from the remote third party server to the client of the user, execution of the third party hosted application responsive to the selection by the user.

Systems and Methods for Providing a Single Click Access to Enterprise, SAAS and Cloud Hosted Application

Telecommunications research can no longer be considered to be pure communications engineering. The convergence of fixed-line and mobile telephony with the Internet together with the rise of novel technologies for rapid service creation has made economic efficiency and user acceptance/usability to crucial factors for the success of the telecommunication business as such. In the emerging new paradigm, a holistic view onto the entire value chain from basic architectural concepts over the efficient design and implementation of new services and applications up to the end customer is becoming indispensable. Within this broad interdisciplinary field, the present paper focuses on the evolution of corresponding concepts for service quality. Whereas the traditional notion of 'QoS' (Quality-of-Service) is already well-established and has led to a plethora of research work mainly in the area of network architectures and protocols, the quality of service design ('QoD') has by far not received comparable attention in the research community. Nevertheless, we argue that both concepts are equally important for achieving a sufficient quality of user experience ('QoE') which eventually leads to both economic viability and user satisfaction. To illustrate our claim, we discuss recent developments in the area of QoS-enabled next generation network architectures as well as novel user-centric service design paradigms, examples for the resulting QoE evaluations and a novel HCI lab approach which allows flexible user tests of mobile applications "in the wild".

This article shows an autonomic management solution based on the recently defined programmable node architecture NetServ. The article starts with a general description of the classical network management requirements and their adaptation to the expected network evolution. After a description of the major issues characterizing the management of the expected Future Internet, the main autonomic management paradigms, and some recently introduced autonomic service platforms, we show and demonstrate the effectiveness of the NetServ architecture. Born as a means to deploy and execute networked services at runtime over programmable routers, NetServ has proved to be a suitable environment for hosting an autonomic management architecture.

An enabling platform for autonomic management of the future internet

The UCT IMS Client is a free open source implementation of a 3GPP IMS Client. The project was started with the goal of creating a flexible and extensible code base for researchers and industry specialists to use the many communication services offered by the IMS. Since its inception in 2006 the client has grown, both in terms of its stability and its feature set, and is used worldwide by IMS enthusiasts as a means to experiment with IMS without any associated risks or costs. This paper describes the history of the project, the software architecture, the supported services and provides results of the various interoperability tests that have been performed between the UCT IMS Client and other freely available IMS Clients.

The UCT IMS client

Mobile network operators in Europe mostly have rolled out 3G networks and are now looking into the deployment of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) which provides an overlay architecture for IP based core networks. The IMS offers a standardized way to develop new and appealing applications and may serve as a blueprint for convergent Next Generation Networks. As with the introduction of any new technology, there comes the need to measure its performance and capabilities.

The Open IMS Core project introduced in this paper offers the core network functionality of an IMS for testing the performance of the central IMS network entities, the IMS Call Session Control Functions. The project's target was to build an implementation based upon open source tools that is fully conformant to existing IMS standards which may be re-used in other IMS related projects. In its setup the Open IMS Core resembles future IMS networks at the needed detail level and allowed to produce first IMS performance results.

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) as defined by the 3GPP emerges as blueprint for a central architecture to provide Next Generation Network (NGN) services. As overlay architecture for IP based access networks, it provides standardized interfaces to services which will merge the advantages of traditional telephony networks with the benefits of Internet services. This paper will evaluate how good the current wireless access network technologies are for usage in combination with IMS services. Based upon a reference implementation of IMS core elements, the Open IMS Core, measurements were carried out on signaling to give an indication as to what networks will be most applicable for usage, particularly for a vehicular environment.

The Open IMS Core[1] project of the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS which is described in this article started in 2006 as an Open Source initiative targeted at all parties interested in the research development of NGN services and IMS testbeds. The Open IMS Core consists of Call Session Control Functions and a Home Subscriber Server and aims to fill the void in the Open Source software landscape with flexible solutions that have proved their conformance and performance in several national and international R&D projects.

This article highlights the challenges in the development of the components and provides insights on major implementation details as well as for their performance. Examples of the usage of the Open IMS Core will illustrate how IMS Open Source software helps not only rapid, but also efficient, flexible and powerful design, development and testing of NGN components and services.

Development of an open source IMS core for emerging IMS testbeds, the academia and beyond

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), already widely recognized as a fundamental core component of Next Generation Networks (NGNs), enables proliferation of a huge variety of value added services. Simultaneous to the emergence of triple play services there is a strong need for establishing standardized methodologies for service fulfillment and assurance, maintaining service execution parameters at advertised levels. Traditional Operations Support Systems (OSS) are not adequate for managing NGNs. This work shows experiences gained from implementing OSS for NGNs. It describes a solution that combines extensive NGN development expertise with a new generation, of policy-based, service oriented OSS solutions in order to provide enhanced levels of automation and reliability to the NGN service delivery and session control environment. Primary focus of this approach is put on service assurance and service fulfillment mechanisms for remote monitoring, automated control and configuration of standard compliant IMS infrastructures, such as the Open Source IMS Core (OSIMS) based Open IMS Playground. This work describes state of the art NGN OSS design principles and knowledge attained by integration of standardized fault management as well as service and subscriber provisioning procedures showing how the full cycle from service deployment to service advertisement to service execution can be delivered in an automated way.
