Journal ArticleDOI

In vivo events associated with entomopathology of Beauveria bassiana for the corn earworm (Heliothis zea)

TL;DR: Although histopathological changes seen in gut tissues suggest that a gut toxin is produced, evidence for such a toxin could not be obtained in preliminary tests and biochemical changes are viewed as being due to general starvation rather than to specific activities of the fungus, at least up to the time that a general mycosis is established.
Journal ArticleDOI

Virulence of Beauveria bassiana Mutants for the Pecan Weevil

TL;DR: The virulence of five mutant strains of an entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria Bassiana (Bals) Vuill.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hemolymph responses in Heliothis zea to inoculation with Bacillus thuringiensis or Micrococcus lysodeikticus

TL;DR: Analysis of hemolymph proteins using one-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis indicated that although some quantitative changes were observed in some experiments, in the faster moving proteins when the infecting agent was B. thuringiensis, they were not consistent enough to support the idea that hemoly mph proteins were either synthesized or used up during the time larvae were responding to the infectious agent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Presence of free putrescine in the haemolymph of corn earworm (Heliothis zea) larvae

TL;DR: In this paper, the diamine of putrescine was identified using thin-layer chromatography, i.r. and proton NMR spectroscopy, and gas chromatography.
