Journal ArticleDOI
Diseases of the mouth; a statistical review of 4728 patients.
TL;DR: The following study of oral lesions comprises an additional group of patients seen in the past twelve years, combined with a previous report of a clinical and pathological study, resulting in a new class of patients diagnosed with central giant cell granuloma.
Multiple functional variants in the IL1RL1 region are pretransplant markers for risk of GVHD and infection deaths
Ezgi Karaesmen,Theresa Hahn,Alexander James Dile,Abbas Rizvi,Junke Wang,Tao Wang,Tao Wang,Michael Haagenson,Leah Preus,Qianqian Zhu,Qian Liu,Li Yan,Song Liu,Christopher A. Haiman,Daniel O. Stram,Loreall Pooler,Xin Sheng,David Van Den Berg,Guy Brock,Amy Webb,Philip L. McCarthy,Marcelo C. Pasquini,Stephen R. Spellman,Stephanie J. Lee,Sophie Paczesny,Lara E. Sucheston-Campbell +25 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that the donor genetic variants in IL1RL1 correlate with sST2 protein levels associated with patient survival outcomes after HCT, which are biomarkers of infection or aGVHD death and could facilitate donor selection, prophylaxis, and a conditioning regimen to reduce post-HCT mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Benign mucous membrane pemphigoid.
TL;DR: Although benign mucous membrane pemphigoid is relatively rare it is probably more common than realized and it may be misdiagnosed for long periods of time, and possible etiologic factors now under consideration are microorganisms, auto-immunity, hormonal unbalance, and stress.
Journal Article
Francis P. McCarthy, pioneer in oral medicine.
Gerald Shklar,Philip L. McCarthy +1 more
TL;DR: Francis P. McCarthy MD was a major pioneer in the development of the discipline of Oral Medicine in America and introduced a course of lectures in Oral Medicine at Tufts Dental School, which was the first course in oral medicine presented at an American dental school.
Validation of genetic associations with acute GVHD and nonrelapse mortality in DISCOVeRY-BMT
Hancong Tang,Theresa Hahn,Ezgi Karaesmen,Abbas Rizvi,Junke Wang,Sophie Paczesny,Tao Wang,Tao Wang,Leah Preus,Qianqian Zhu,Yiwen Wang,Christopher A. Haiman,Daniel O. Stram,Loreall Pooler,Xin Sheng,David Van Den Berg,Guy Brock,Amy Webb,Marcelo C. Pasquini,Philip L. McCarthy,Stephen R. Spellman,Lara E. Sucheston-Campbell +21 more
TL;DR: Martinez-Laperche et al. as discussed by the authors proposed a predictive model for the risk of acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) based on the selection of clinical variables and 25 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).
