Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid solid-state synthesis of materials from molybdenum disulphide to refractories
TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the factors that influence reactions between transition-metal halides and alkali-metal chalcogenides in the solid state, and show that these highly energetic reactions, driven by the formation of very stable product species, provide a powerful method for the rapid synthesis of materials normally prepared at high temperatures over long periods of time.

Rapid solid-state synthesis of refractory materials
Richard B. Kaner,Philippe R. Bonneau,Edward G. Gillan,John B. Wiley,Robert F. Jarvis,Rande Treece +5 more
TL;DR: A process for producing a refractory material having the form TB o, e.g. zirconium nitride (ZrN), is described in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solid-state metathesis as a quick route to transition-metal mixed dichalcogenides
TL;DR: In this article, the transition-metal dichalcogenide solid solution is isolated by simply washing away the byproduct salt, and powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analyses of the solid solutions are performed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-temperature precursor synthesis of crystalline nickel disulfide
Journal ArticleDOI
High-quality mixed-transition-metal dichalcogenides from solid-state exchange reactions
TL;DR: In this article, the metal distribution of mixed-metal dichalcogenide products can be correlated to the metal dichal cogenide product. But the results were limited to the high-angle 123 powder X-ray reflection.
