Molecular Geometry and Adrenergic Drug Activity
Journal Article
Iris pigmentation and atropine mydriasis.
TL;DR: The experiments were designed to study the well-known pigment-dependent mydriatic effect of atropine in the eye and found that in vitro, relative to the accumulation of 3H-atropine by the nonpigmented rabbit iris, the pigmented iris accumulated high amounts of the drug.
Journal ArticleDOI
Steric Aspects of Adrenergic Drugs
TL;DR: In vasa deferentia obtained from reserpine-pretreated rats, tyramine released equal amounts of radioactivity when tissues were either preincubated with (−)- or (+)-isomer, however, the response of vasadeferentia preincUBated with the (−)-isomers was approximately 7-fold greater than of those preincubsated withThe results are discussed in relation to the drug-induced release of the isomers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lack of cross‐desensitization between structurally dissimilar α‐adrenoceptor agonists
TL;DR: The pharmacological experiments on receptor desensitization furnish evidence for the existence of different sites of interaction on the cr-adrenoceptor for agonists of the imidazoline and phenethylamine classes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relevance of drug-melanin interactions to ocular pharmacology and toxicology
TL;DR: Ocular drug development calls for the study of qualitative and quantitative aspects of drug-melanin interaction, and studies on synthetic melanin and melanin granules indicated a high binding capacity of many therapeutic classes of drugs, including psychotropics.
