Use of different forms of waste plastic in concrete – a review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of some published research regarding the use of waste plastic in concrete and the effects of plastic addition on the fresh, mechanical and thermal properties of concrete.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental studies on strength and ductility of CFRP jacketed reinforced concrete beam-column joints

TL;DR: In this article, the effect on the strength of beam-column joints initially stressed to three different stress levels, retrofitted with CFRP jackets has been presented, and the results show improvement in the ultimate load carrying capacity (7-12%) of the retrofitted beams, when compared to the control beams along with an increase of 15% in yield load for each of such exterior beam- column joints.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comprehensive review on effects of mineral admixtures and fibers on engineering properties of ultra-high-performance concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review regarding the effects of mineral admixtures and fibers on the microstructural characteristics, fresh properties, and mechanical properties overall to address the upcoming challenges preventing the widespread use of UHPC and UHP-FRC/UHP-HFRC is essential.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potential Use of Sillimanite Sand in Sustainable Geopolymer Concrete Production

TL;DR: Geopolymer concrete is reported as the best possible alternative to cement-based concrete as discussed by the authors, however, the limitation in the attainment of structural strength using ambient curing has restrict the use of geopolymer.
