Journal ArticleDOI
Candida albicans promotes tooth decay by inducing oral microbial dysbiosis.
Qian Du,Biao Ren,Jinzhi He,Xian Peng,Qiang Guo,Liwei Zheng,Jiyao Li,Huanqin Dai,Vivian Chen,Lixin Zhang,Lixin Zhang,Xuedong Zhou,Xin Xu +12 more
TL;DR: In vitro and animal studies showed that C. albicans colonization increased the cariogenicity of oral biofilm by altering its microbial ecology, leading to a polymicrobial biofilm with enhanced acidogenicity, and consequently exacerbated tooth demineralization and carious lesion severity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sucrose promotes caries progression by disrupting the microecological balance in oral biofilms: an in vitro study.
Qian Du,Min Fu,Yuan Zhou,Yangpei Cao,Tingwei Guo,Zhou Zhou,Mingyun Li,Xian Peng,Xin Zheng,Yan Li,Xin Xu,Jinzhi He,Xuedong Zhou +12 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that the cariogenicity of sugars is closely related to their ability to regulate the oral microecology, and sucrose supplementation disrupted the homeostasis between acid-producing and alkali-producing bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Probiotics ameliorate alveolar bone loss by regulating gut microbiota.
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that probiotics can effectively attenuate alveolar bone loss by modulating gut microbiota and further regulating osteo-immune response and thus represent a promising adjuvant in the treatment of alveoral bone loss under oestrogen deficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-kingdom interaction between Candida albicans and oral bacteria
TL;DR: In this article , the authors discuss the bacterial-fungal interactions between C. albicans and different oral bacteria, with a particular focus on the underlying mechanism and its relevance to the development and clinical management of oral diseases.
