Planar Trigger Switch and Its Integrated Chip With Exploding Foil Initiator Based on Low-Temperature Cofired Ceramic

TL;DR: In this paper, a planar trigger switch constituting of three electrodes was designed and fabricated using low-temperature co-fired ceramic, and characterized under an atmospheric pressure, showing that when the operating voltage ranges between 77.2% and 86.8% of its self-breakdown voltage, the inductance of the switch was lower than that of commercial spark gap switch by approximately 60 nH, the current rising time was shortened by nearly 1/2, and the peak current increased by about 30%.
Journal ArticleDOI

An electro-explosively actuated mini-flyer launcher

TL;DR: In this article, an electro-explosively actuated mini-flyer launcher capable of ejecting a plastic mini flyer, typically 0.6 mm in diameter, up to several km/s.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Shock-Induced Pulsed Power Switch Utilizing Electro-Explosion of Exploding Bridge Wire

TL;DR: In this paper, a shock-induced pulsed power switch based on electroexplosion of exploding bridge wire (EBW) was developed, and the electrical field distribution and electrothermal coupling of EBW were simulated using COMSOL multiphysics software to assess the rationality of structural parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design, fabrication and characterization of an electrical-explosively actuated MEMS flyer-accelerator inserted with parallel bridge foils

TL;DR: Parallel bridge foils (PBF) with four strip foils, derived from traditional single bridge foil (SBF), was designed to study the effect of convergence and collision of plasmas and shock waves on driving flyer.
Journal ArticleDOI

An exploding foil overpressure actuator for multipoint synchronous initiation and mach reflection generation

TL;DR: In this paper, two new forms (series-parallel and serial) of exploding foil overpressure actuators (EFOA) have been designed for the Mach reflection pressure studies and initiation of insensitive explosives at a small laboratory scale.
