Journal ArticleDOI

Arterial pressure regulation: Overriding dominance of the kidneys in long-term regulation and in hypertension☆

TL;DR: All long-term arterial pressure regulation must involve the balance between intake and output of water and salt and almost invariably involves the kidneys.
Journal ArticleDOI

Systems analysis of arterial pressure regulation and hypertension.

TL;DR: The systems analysis approach has made it possible to differentiate between the primary causes of hypertension and dependent variables of the system, and some of the concepts of pressure control based on acute experiments and then extrapolated to the problem of hypertension have proved to be wrong.
Journal ArticleDOI

Subpressor angiotensin infusion, renal sodium handling, and salt-induced hypertension in the dog.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the tendency of the kidneys to retain sodium under the influence of angiotensin was probably caused mainly by a direct effect of angiotsin on the kidney itself, and could be a contributing factor in the marked hypertension that results from salt administration in the presence of small amounts of ang Elliotensin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arterial pressure-urinary output relationship in hypertensive rats

TL;DR: The parallel shift in arterial pressure-urinary output relationship in SHR is indicative of uniform renal vasoconstriction but normal functional renal mass in the SHR.
