Dynamic emission dispatch considering the probabilistic model with multiple smart energy system players based on a developed fuzzy theory-based harmony search algorithm

The aim of demand response concept is to mitigate the consumption of electric utility consumers to a reasonable consumption level so as to balance the demand-supply requirements. In this current research paper, demand response is considered as a multi-objective optimal economic emission dispatch issue to be addressed. The authors propose a novel nature-inspired optimization algorithm in the name of improved circle search algorithm (ICSA) to find the optimum combination between two generations, such as traditional generators, and demand response as a demand resource. The proposed ICSA was incorporated in MATLAB environment whereas the proposed optimization algorithm was evaluated using two standard test systems such as IEEE-30 bus system and 6-bus system. The optimization results substantiate that the proposed optimization algorithm is capable of mitigating both operation costs as well as test system emissions in a significant manner, while it was also achieving these results overcoming the specified constraints. 

Environmental Economic Load Dispatch Considering Demand Response Using a New Heuristic Optimization Algorithm

Deployment of non-conventional energy resources, for instance, wind energy in the generation of electric power, has assumed immense importance in recent times. The wind power penetration into conventional power grids may have definite security connotations because the availability of wind power has primarily relied on weather conditions. As a result, in economic load dispatch (ELD) that comprises of penetration of wind power, a sensible compromise between the system risks and operating costs is preferred. In this paper, the Levy Interior Search algorithm (LISA) was implemented to elucidate the multi-objective ELD problem, taking into account, the penetration of wind power. Here the operating cost and system risk were considered as objective functions. The best compromise solution was determined using the fuzzy membership approach. In this paper, two different strategies are implemented for LISA. The superiority and efficacy of LISA were demonstrated through its implementation on a modified IEEE 30-bus system. The application results revealed that the LISA algorithm employing strategy II is able to yield better results when compared to ISA, LISA Strategy I and other optimization algorithms.
