Mechanism of Antifoaming: Role of Filler Particle
Patent
High efficiency antifoam compositions and process for reducing foaming
TL;DR: Antifoam compositions containing high viscosity polydiorganosiloxane oils, finely divided hydrophobic solids, and siloxanepolyoxyalkylene block copolymer surfactants can be used per se or in the form of emulsions as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of antifoaming action
TL;DR: In this article, the authors have shown that antifoam effectiveness can be strongly influenced by dispersibility and long-range interfacial electrical forces, and that electrical repulsive forces change significantly near the critical micelle concentrations of the foaming surfactants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorption and critical flotation conditions
TL;DR: In this article, the Gouy treatment was used to estimate the potential energy of attraction for selected systems in a single-layer collector for oxide mineral flotation, and it was shown that the collector species adsorb also at the liquid/gas interface, which would produce a long-range force of attraction which would influence the kinetics of flotation.
Patent
Silanated calcium carbonate fillers
TL;DR: In this paper, a calcium carbonate is rendered receptive to silanation by pretreatment with soluble sodium silicate, and it is shown that the saliency of the pre-treatment is positively correlated with the hardness of the pretreatment.
