syn- and anti-Benzotris(norbornadiene)s

TL;DR: In this article, the syn and anti isomers of benzotris(norbornadiene) 7, the only molecules that include both features known to lead to bond length alternation in benzenes, i.e., bicyclic ring strain and π-π interaction, have been synthesized from 2,3-dibromonorbornadienes using butyllithium and copper(I) iodide.

An Alternative, Inexpensive Preparation of Phenylsulfonylethylene

TL;DR: The reaction of (Z)-1,2-bis (phenylsulfonyl)ethylene with tributyltin hydride gives quantitatively phenyl sulfonylethylene and constitutes an alternative and inexpensive preparation of this widely used reagent as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nucleophilic Addition of Highly Hindered Amines to Electron-Deficient Acetylenes

TL;DR: Even the most highly hindered amines such as diisopropylamine, isopropyl-t-butylamine and 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine react with electron-deficient alkynes to give the Michael addition products as discussed by the authors.
