Journal ArticleDOI

Improved energy resolution of Van de Graaff accelerators

TL;DR: In this paper, it was found that increasing the gain band width of the voltage control circuit of a Van de Graaff accelerator greatly improves the obtainable energy resolution, and the resulting resolution measured at 1 MeV proton energy is 60 eV fwhm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Timing effects in cylindrical scintillators

TL;DR: The time distribution of position-dependent delays for gamma rays in a cylindrical scintillator including the effects of flight time and anisotropy of gamma rays, flight time of Compton scattered electrons, multiple reflections of scintillation photons and photocathode anisochronism was calculated in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

A 50 MHz beam pulser

TL;DR: In this article, a 50 MHz beam pulser has been constructed for use with a Van de Graaf accelerator, and an accurate analysis of the system based on measured properties of the undeflected beam shows that the rms (root mean square) pulse width is 14.5 ps.
