Journal ArticleDOI

The genomic relationship between Glycine max (L.) Merr. and G. soja Sieb. and Zucc. as revealed by pachytene chromosome analysis.

TL;DR: This study suggests that G. max and G. soja carry similar genomes and validates the previously assigned genome symbol GG, and reveals small structural differences for chromosomes 6 and 11 which were not detected at diakinesis and metaphase I.
Journal ArticleDOI

Broadening the Genetic Base of Soybean : A Multidisciplinary Approach

TL;DR: The cytogenetic knowledge of soybean lags far behind that of other model important crops (rice, maize, wheat, tomato), because it's somatic chromosomes are symmetrical, and only one pair of satellite chromosomes can be identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phylogenetic and genomic relationships in the genus Glycine Willd. based on sequences from the ITS region of nuclear rDNA

TL;DR: Phylogenetic relationships among all 18 species of the genus Glycine were inferred from nucleotide sequence variation in the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA, and all the genomic groups that were established previously based on cytogenetic and biochemical studies were resolved.
Journal ArticleDOI

Landmark research in legumes.

TL;DR: It is concluded that a "protein revolution" is needed to meet the protein demands of the world.
