Journal ArticleDOI

Co energy and magnetization anisotropies in RCo5 intermetallics between 4.2 K and 300 K

TL;DR: The magnetocrystalline anisotropy has been known for a long time to be very large in the RCo5 intermetallics as discussed by the authors, reaching 4% at 4.2 K.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intermediate valence state of cerium in CeNi

TL;DR: In this article, an orthorhombic CeNi compound was shown to behave as an enhanced Pauli paramagnet in which the magnetic susceptibility along the c axis passes through a maximum at around 140 K.
Journal ArticleDOI

4f magnetism in CeNi, PrNi and NdNi single crystals

TL;DR: The magnetic properties of the orthorhombic CeNi, PrNi and NdNi compounds (CrB-type structure) have been studied on single crystals and large anisotropic effects are observed in the three compounds and can be well accounted for by crystal electric field considerations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Onset of magnetism in the yttrium-nickel compounds: II. Very weak itinerant ferromagnetism in YNi3

TL;DR: In this article, the resurgence of magnetism and its localization in terms of the band structure of the alloy was discussed, and the resurgence was not due to the yttrium 4d electrons but to the nickel 3d electrons, the spatial distribution of which is analogous to that observed in nickel metal.
