Oxidative processes and meat spoilage bacteria are major contributors to decreasing the shelf-life of meat and meat products. Oxidative processes occur during processing, storage, and light exposure, lowering the nutritional and sensory value and acceptability of meat and generating toxic compounds for humans. Polyphenols inhibit oxidative processes in 3 ways: as reactive species scavengers, lipoxygenase inhibitors, and reducing agents for metmyoglobin. Thus, polyphenols are candidate antioxidants for meat and meat products. The cross-contamination of meat with spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms can occur in production lines and result in economic losses. The ability of polyphenols to interact with bacterial cell wall components and the bacterial cell membrane can prevent and control biofilm formation, as well as inhibit microbial enzymes, interfere in protein regulation, and deprive bacterial cell enzymes of substrates and metal ions. Thus, polyphenols are candidate antimicrobial agents for use with meat and meat products. Commercially available polyphenols can decrease primary and secondary lipid peroxidation levels, inhibit lipoxygenase activity, improve meat color stability, minimize the degradation of salt-soluble myofibrillar protein and sulfhydryl groups, and retard bacterial growth. Further studies are now needed to clarify the synergistic/antagonistic action of various polyphenols, and to identify the best polyphenol classes, concentrations, and conditions of use.

Plant Polyphenols as Antioxidant and Antibacterial Agents for Shelf-Life Extension of Meat and Meat Products: Classification, Structures, Sources, and Action Mechanisms

One of the goals of smart environments is to improve the quality of human life in terms of comfort and efficiency. The Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm has recently evolved into a technology for building smart environments. Security and privacy are considered key issues in any real-world smart environment based on the IoT model. The security vulnerabilities in IoT-based systems create security threats that affect smart environment applications. Thus, there is a crucial need for intrusion detection systems (IDSs) designed for IoT environments to mitigate IoT-related security attacks that exploit some of these security vulnerabilities. Due to the limited computing and storage capabilities of IoT devices and the specific protocols used, conventional IDSs may not be an option for IoT environments. This article presents a comprehensive survey of the latest IDSs designed for the IoT model, with a focus on the corresponding methods, features, and mechanisms. This article also provides deep insight into the IoT architecture, emerging security vulnerabilities, and their relation to the layers of the IoT architecture. This work demonstrates that despite previous studies regarding the design and implementation of IDSs for the IoT paradigm, developing efficient, reliable and robust IDSs for IoT-based smart environments is still a crucial task. Key considerations for the development of such IDSs are introduced as a future outlook at the end of this survey.

Intrusion detection systems for IoT-based smart environments: a survey

The aim of this review is to investigate barriers and challenges of wearable patient monitoring (WPM) solutions adopted by clinicians in acute, as well as in community, care settings. Currently, healthcare providers are coping with ever-growing healthcare challenges including an ageing population, chronic diseases, the cost of hospitalization, and the risk of medical errors. WPM systems are a potential solution for addressing some of these challenges by enabling advanced sensors, wearable technology, and secure and effective communication platforms between the clinicians and patients. A total of 791 articles were screened and 20 were selected for this review. The most common publication venue was conference proceedings (13, 54%). This review only considered recent studies published between 2015 and 2017. The identified studies involved chronic conditions (6, 30%), rehabilitation (7, 35%), cardiovascular diseases (4, 20%), falls (2, 10%) and mental health (1, 5%). Most studies focussed on the system aspects of WPM solutions including advanced sensors, wireless data collection, communication platform and clinical usability based on a specific area or disease. The current studies are progressing with localized sensor-software integration to solve a specific use-case/health area using non-scalable and `silo' solutions. There is further work required regarding interoperability and clinical acceptance challenges. The advancement of wearable technology and possibilities of using machine learning and artificial intelligence in healthcare is a concept that has been investigated by many studies. We believe future patient monitoring and medical treatments will build upon efficient and affordable solutions of wearable technology.

A Systematic Review of Wearable Patient Monitoring Systems --- Current Challenges and Opportunities for Clinical Adoption

Objectives: In our Country, even though it has super power and an economic development, but still there are many crimes against women. The atrocities against the women can be brought to an end with the help of our product "FEMME". This device is a security system, specially designed for women in distress. Method/Analysis: Using ARM controller for the hardware device is the most efficient and it consumes less power. We use radio frequency signal detector to detect hidden cameras. Findings: We analysed that there are no security device for our total safety. The user has to carry multiple devices. We found an ALL-IN-ONE security device which has all the features in one click. Applications/Improvements: In this paper we used ARM controller and android application in which both the device and the smart phone are synchronized using Bluetooth, hence both can be triggered independently. We can record audio for further investigation and can give an alert call and message to the pre-set contacts with the instant location every 2 minutes and can be tracked live using our application. Hidden camera detector is also a distinct feature using which we can ensure our privacy.

Women Safety Device and Application-FEMME

Polyphenols are a large groups of natural compounds widely distributed in variety of plants. They are known to have antioxidant properties with potential health benefits. Green tea and cocoa are the two most widely consumed beverages in the world. Various researches suggest that green tea and cocoa was found to prevent cardiovascular diseases, cancers and kidney stones. The present study is intended to profile the phenols and flavonoids content and to assess the antioxidative capacity in both cocoa and green tea. The results of the study have revealed that one serving of cocoa has higher amount of polyphenols than that of green tea. Hence cocoa froths with antioxidants than green tea and its consumption can improve general health.

A comparative phytochemical analysis of cocoa and green tea

This paper presents the results of an experimental study of some similarity measures used for both Information Retrieval and Document Clustering. Our results indicate that the cosine similarity measure is superior than the other measures such as Jaccard measure, Euclidean measure that we tested. Cosine Similarity measure is particularly better for text documents. Previously these measures are compared with the conventional text datasets but the proposed system collects the datasets with the help of API and it returns the collection of XML pages. These XML pages are parsed and filtered to get the web document datasets. In this paper, we compare and analyze the effectiveness of these measures for these web document datasets.

Analyzing and Detecting Employee's Emotion for Amelioration of Organizations

The transmission of the patient’s data is transmitted through wireless medium. It is therefore necessary to provide adequate security. A lightweight selective encryption (LWSE) scheme is proposed in this work. The proposed security mechanism of WBAN ensures security parameter such as data confidentiality and authentication and designed to provide the security in three levels of communication in WBAN. The security of medical data either while stored in WBAN or during their transmission is an important issue concern. The sensor nodes are energy constrained. It is necessary to use lightweight security mechanism for WBAN. A LWSE scheme is proposed for minimizing transmission overhead.
