Journal ArticleDOI
Neutron detection and γ-ray suppression using artificial neural networks with the liquid scintillators BC-501A and BC-537
P. A. Söderström,G. Jaworski,G. Jaworski,J. J. Valiente Dobon,Johan Nyberg,Jorge Agramunt,G. de Angelis,Sara Carturan,J. Egea,J. Egea,M. N. Erduran,S. Erturk,A. Gadea,A. Goasduff,Vicente González,K. Hadyńska-Klȩk,T. Hüyük,V. Modamio,Marek Moszynski,A. Di Nitto,M. Palacz,Norbert Pietralla,Enrique Sanchis,D. A. Testov,A. Triossi,R. Wadsworth +25 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that using artificial neural networks it is possible to obtain the same γ -ray rejection quality from both BC-501A and BC-537 for neutrons above a low- energy threshold, which is important for nuclear structure spectroscopy experiments of rare reaction channels where low-energy interactions dominates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-lying structure of 215Rn and 219Ra
A M Y El-Lawindy,J D Burrows,P. A. Butler,J.R. Cresswell,V Holliday,G D Jones,Richard Tanner,R. Wadsworth,D. L. Watson,K A Connell,J. Simpson,C Lauterbach,J R Mines +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the alpha decay of 223Th (T12/=0.6 s), formed in the reaction 83 MeV 208Pb(18O,3n), was observed in coincidence with the detection of alpha particles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Configurations of superdeformed bands in 193Pb.
Laurent Ducroux,A. Astier,R. Duffait,Le Coz Y,Matthias Meyer,Stephane Perries,N. Redon,J.F. Sharpey-Schafer,Anna Wilson,B. J. P. Gall,R. Collatz,Deloncle I I,F. Hannachi,A. Lopez-Martens,M. G. Porquet,C. Schück,F. Azaiez,S. Bouneau,C. Bourgeois,A. Korichi,N. Poffé,H. Sergolle,R. Lucas,Meot,Hibbert I I,R. Wadsworth +25 more
TL;DR: The six superdeformed bands in {sup 193}Pb have been studied with the EUROGAM 2 {gamma}-ray spectrometer using the {sup 168}Er({sup 30}Si,5{ital n}){sup 193]Pb reaction and the results are discussed in terms of cranked-Hartree-Fock-Bogolioubov-Lipkin-Nogami calculations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lifetime measurement of the 21+ state in 74Rb and isospin properties of quadrupole transition strengths at N = Z
C. Morse,C. Morse,H. Iwasaki,A. Lemasson,A. Dewald,Thomas Braunroth,V. M. Bader,T.R. Baugher,D. Bazin,J. S. Berryman,C. M. Campbell,Alexandra Gade,C. Langer,C. Langer,I. Y. Lee,C. Loelius,E. Lunderberg,F. Recchia,D. Smalley,S. R. Stroberg,R. Wadsworth,C. Walz,C. Walz,D. Weisshaar,A. Westerberg,K. Whitmore,Kathrin Wimmer,Kathrin Wimmer +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first implementation of the Differential Recoil Distance Doppler Shift technique with fast radioactive beams is demonstrated and verified through a measurement of the well-known B ( E 2 ; 2 1 + → 0 1 + ) transition strength in 74Kr.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gamma-ray studies in 64Zn: levels above 3.1 MeV
D N Simister,L P Ekstrom,G D Jones,F Kearns,T P Morrison,O M Mustaffa,H G Price,P J Twin,R. Wadsworth,N J Ward +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the gamma-ray decay scheme of 64Zn has been deduced up to 5.7 MeV excitation by means of gamma- gamma coincidence experiments and n- gamma coincidences experiments.
