Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Typing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae Causing Repeated Infections: Evolution of Porin during Passage within a Community
Marcia M. Hobbs,Timothy M. Alcorn,Rachael H. Davis,William A. Fischer,James C. Thomas,Iona M. C. Martin,Catherine A Ison,P. F. Sparling,Myron S. Cohen +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared por gene sequencing, opa-typing, and arbitrarily primed-polymerase chain reaction to identify differences between some isolates belonging to the same serovar.
Journal ArticleDOI
Longitudinal Evaluation of Serovar-specific Immunity to Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Kimberley K. Fox,James C. Thomas,Debra H. Weiner,Rachael H. Davis,P. Frederick Sparling,Myron S. Cohen +5 more
TL;DR: The epidemiologic evidence for serovar-specific immunity to N. gonorrhoeae in clients of a sexually transmitted disease clinic in rural North Carolina over a 17-month period in 1992-1994 was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterisation of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in semen during urethral infection in men.
Susan F. Isbey,Timothy M. Alcorn,Rachael H. Davis,Julie Haizlip,Peter A. Leone,Myron S. Cohen +5 more
TL;DR: Men with symptomatic gonorrhoea excrete a large number of gonococci in semen which is not affected by the duration of symptoms, and the similar phenotype of organisms in urine and semen suggests the bacteria come from the same compartment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time required for elimination of Neisseria gonorrhoeae from the urogenital tract in men with symptomatic urethritis: comparison of oral and intramuscular single-dose therapy.
Julie Haizlip,Susan F. Isbey,Holli A. Hamilton,Ann E. Jerse,Peter A. Leone,Rachael H. Davis,Myron S. Cohen +6 more
TL;DR: The results support the efficacy of single-dose oral therapy for gonorrhoeae and suggest that earlier follow-up for proof of cure in clinical trials of new antibiotics for gonorrhea may be acceptable.
