Journal ArticleDOI

Odor memory: Review and analysis

TL;DR: It is concluded that olfactory memory has a variety of important distinguishing characteristics, but that more data are needed to confer this distinction.
Journal ArticleDOI

The hippocampal complex of food-storing birds.

TL;DR: The volume of the hippocampal complex and the telencephalon is determined in 3 food-storing families and in 10 non-food-stored families and subfamilies of passerines to show that natural selection has led to a larger hippocampusal complex in birds that rely on memory to recover spatially dispersed food caches.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aromatherapy Facts and Fictions: A Scientific Analysis of Olfactory Effects on Mood, Physiology and Behavior

TL;DR: It was found that credible evidence that odors can affect mood, physiology and behavior exists and pharmacological and psychological mechanisms were explored and a psychological interpretation of the data was found to be more comprehensive.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Influence of Verbal Labeling on the Perception of Odors: Evidence for Olfactory Illusions?:

TL;DR: It is proposed that the cases where verbal labels inverted odor perception are the first empirical demonstrations of olfactory illusions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuroimaging evidence for the emotional potency of odor-evoked memory

TL;DR: Findings provide convincing neurobiological evidence that the subjective experience of the emotional potency of odor-evoked memory is correlated with specific activation in the amygdala during recall and offers new insights into the affective organization of memory.
