Journal ArticleDOI
Steroid metabolome in plasma from the umbilical artery, umbilical vein, maternal cubital vein and in amniotic fluid in normal and preterm labor
Martin Hill,Antonin Parizek,Radmila Kancheva,Michaela Duskova,Marta Velíková,Lubomir Kriz,Michaela Klímková,Andrea Pašková,Z. Zizka,Petr Matucha,Milan Meloun,Luboslav Stárka +11 more
TL;DR: The conjugated 3betaOH5S (the key products of the FZFA), estrogens, some polar conjugates of progesterone 5alpha/beta-reduced metabolites and some steroid 7alpha/ beta- and 16alpha-hydroxy-metabolites showed strong positive correlations with the GA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroactive steroids in periphery and cerebrospinal fluid.
TL;DR: Brain synthesis may provide minimal level of neurosteroids, which are indispensable for the CNS functions, but substantial part of the steroid metabolites may be also synthesized in the CNS from the steroid precursors or directly transported through BBB from the periphery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Steroid metabolome in fetal and maternal body fluids in human late pregnancy.
Martin Hill,Antonín Pařízek,David Cibula,Radmila Kancheva,Jirásek Je,Marie Jirkovská,Marta Velíková,Jana Kubátová,Michaela Klímková,Andrea Pašková,Zdeněk Zižka,Lyudmila Kancheva,H. Kazihnítková,Ludmila Zamrazilová,Luboslav Stárka +14 more
TL;DR: Evaluated data indicates increasing progesterone synthesis and its concurrently increasing catabolism with approaching parturition, and confirms declining production of pregnancy sustaining 5β-pregnane steroids providing uterine quiescence in late pregnancy, increased sulfation of further neuroinhibiting and pregnancy sustaining steroids.
Journal ArticleDOI
Steroids and insulin resistance in pregnancy
D Vejrazkova,Josef Vcelak,Marketa Vankova,P Lukasova,Bradnová O,Tereza Halkova,Radmila Kancheva,Bela Bendlova +7 more
TL;DR: The role of steroid hormones (androgens, estrogens, gestagens, mineralocorticoids, glucocortics, as well as secosteroid vitamin D) in the impairment of glucose tolerance in pregnancy and in the pathogenesis of gestational diabetes mellitus is focused on.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroactive pregnanolone isomers during pregnancy.
Antonin Parizek,Martin Hill,Radmila Kancheva,Helena Havlíková,Lyudmila Kancheva,Josef Cindr,Andrea Pašková,Vladimír Pouzar,I. Cerny,Pavel Drbohlav,Hájek Z,Luboslav Stárka +11 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis of the role of isopregnanolone in the onset of parturition of pregnanolone was weakened, as the results indicated changing ratios between 3 alpha- and 3beta-PI and between 5alpha- and 5 beta-PI throughout pregnancy.
