TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the coupling of background chiral vector gauge fields to closed Bose strings and the appearance of Chern-Simons terms in such couplings is elucidated.

TL;DR: A bosonic string model with G x G gauge excitations can be understood as the dimensional reduction of a simpler string model in higher spacetime dimensions and the corresponding effective low-energy theories of these two models are similarly related.
Abstract: A bosonic string model with G x G gauge excitations can be understood as the dimensional reduction of a simpler string model in higher spacetime dimensions. It follows that the corresponding effective low-energy theories of these two models are similarly related. A close relationship of these bosonic strings to the heterotic string model is also noted.

TL;DR: In this article, the equivalence of the old Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond superstring formalism and the new green-schwarz formalism is shown.

TL;DR: This work considers bosonic string models with non-Abelian gauge excitations, whose Lie-algebra-valued currents are ''twisted'' by nontrivial automorphisms, whose respective spectra are radically different.
Abstract: We consider bosonic string models with non-Abelian gauge excitations, whose Lie-algebra-valued currents are ''twisted'' by nontrivial automorphisms. The twisted models have the same critical dimension as the corresponding untwisted models; however, their respective spectra are radically different.
