TL;DR: Use of a drain after burr-hole drainage of chronic subdural haematoma is safe and associated with reduced recurrence and mortality at 6 months.
Journal ArticleDOI
The pathophysiology and treatment of delayed cerebral ischaemia following subarachnoid haemorrhage
Karol P. Budohoski,Mathew R. Guilfoyle,Adel Helmy,Terhi Huuskonen,Marek Czosnyka,Ramez W. Kirollos,David K. Menon,John D. Pickard,Peter J. Kirkpatrick +8 more
TL;DR: The current knowledge about the mechanisms underlying the development of DCI is summarized and the known pharmacological treatment options with respect to the presumed mechanism of action and its role in DCI are described and categorised.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection and evaluation of intracranial aneurysms with 16-row multislice CT angiography.
G. Tipper,Jean-Marie U-King-Im,Stephen J. Price,Rikin A. Trivedi,Justin J. Cross,N Higgins,R. Farmer,J. Wat,Ramez W. Kirollos,Peter J. Kirkpatrick,Nagui M. Antoun,Jonathan H. Gillard +11 more
TL;DR: The diagnostic accuracy of 16-slice CTA is promising and appears equivalent to that of DSA for detection and evaluation of intracranial aneurysms, by comparison with conventional digital subtraction angiography and intraoperative findings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of Spontaneous Cerebellar Hematomas: A Prospective Treatment Protocol
Ramez W. Kirollos,Atul Tyagi,Stuart A. Ross,Philip van Hille,P. V. Marks,Gary K. Steinberg,Steven D. Chang,Ralph G. Dacey,Gareth A. Roberts,Christopher M. Loftus,Christopher L. Taylor,Warren R. Selman +11 more
TL;DR: A treatment protocol was developed and prospectively applied for the management of 50 consecutive cases of cerebellar hematomas and the degree of fourth ventricular compression was significantly correlated with the volume of the hematoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endoscopic treatment of suprasellar and third ventricle-related arachnoid cysts
TL;DR: Third ventricle-related arachnoid cysts can be satisfactorily and safely treated by endoscopy, despite only marginal reduction in the cyst size and persistence of ventriculomegaly in some cases.
