Application of GWQI to Assess Effect of Land Use Change on Groundwater Quality in Lower Shiwaliks of Punjab: Remote Sensing and GIS Based Approach
Chander Kumar Singh,Satyanarayan Shashtri,Saumitra Mukherjee,Rina Kumari,Ram Avatar,Amit Singh,Ravi Prakash Singh +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a qualitative assessment of groundwater was done and a ground water quality index criterion was used to understand the suitability of groundwater for irrigation and drinking purpose in the study area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemical Modeling of High Fluoride Concentration in Groundwater of Pokhran Area of Rajasthan, India
Chander Kumar Singh,Kumari Rina,Ravi Prakash Singh,Satyanarayan Shashtri,Vikas Kamal,Saumitra Mukherjee +5 more
TL;DR: The highly alkaline conditions indicated fluorite dissolution as major process responsible for high concentration of fluoride in Pokhran as well as the possibility of anthropogenic input of fluoride is all most negligible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemical characterization and heavy metal contamination of groundwater in Satluj River Basin
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate hydrogeochemical parameters and heavy metals in groundwater and study their spatial distribution in the Rupnagar District of Punjab using Arc GIS 9.2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Based Classification to Assess the Change in Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) in Lower Assam, India
TL;DR: In this paper, the NDVI based classification has indicated about significant change in land use land cover between a year 1990 and 2014, where the major change has been found in the forest cover area where about 113 km 2 (2.9%) of forest have been degraded and about 115.4 km 2 area of wetland has been lost.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of hydrogeochemistry and the quality of groundwater in 24-Parganas districts, West Bengal
TL;DR: In this article, an attempt has been made to understand the geological processes controlling the quality of water in a part of North and South 24-Parganas districts of West Bengal, where 39 representative groundwater samples were collected from the study area and physico-chemical parameters were analyzed for all the samples.
