Journal ArticleDOI

Optimal capacity for substitutable products under operational postponement

TL;DR: The well-known result that operational postponement and capacity are strategic complements in a single-product setting no longer holds, because the two substitutable products are now linked through consumer-driven substitution, which the firm can influence through pricing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strategies for managing the flexible capacity in the airline industry

TL;DR: In this article, the benefits of a Demand Driven Swapping (DDS) approach that takes advantage of the flexibilities in the system and dynamically swaps aircraft as departures near and more accurate demand information is obtained are analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimal Capacity, Product Substitution, Linear Demand Models, and Uncertainty

TL;DR: In this article, the capacity, pricing, and production decisions of a monopolist producing two substitutable products with flexible capacity were studied under demand uncertainty, and it was shown that if the demand shock is multiplicative, then in terms of the "invest or not" decision, the firm will be immune to forecast errors in parameters of the underlying demand distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supply chain management in health sector in Thailand: a case study

TL;DR: In this article, a case study of a hospital's internal supply chain and logistics system in Thailand by business process analysis is presented, and a new inventory system and software development for connecting this internal supply-chain is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heuristic Algorithms for Surveyor Standby Location Planning with Multiple Plans

TL;DR: A computational study is conducted to make a comparison between standby location planning strategies that involve one and two plans and suggests that using multiple standby location plan throughout the time horizon can improve the efficiency of surveyors in terms of their total distance.
