Surveillance for waterborne-disease outbreaks associated with recreational water--United States, 2001-2002.

TL;DR: The number of recreational water-associated outbreaks has increased significantly during this period and could reflect improved surveillance and reporting at the local and state level, a true increase in the number of WBDOs, or a combination of these factors.

A review of 35 outbreaks of cryptosporidiosis points to recommendations for prevention of waterborne outbreaks and uncovers a need for more adequate epidemiological data.

TL;DR: This article review s the epidem iology and causes of w aterborne outbreaks that have been reported in North America and the United Kingdom and concludes that available epidemiological information is inadequate to estim ate endem ic w a terborne risks, and analytical studies should be conducted to assess these risks.
