PurposeBy drawing on protection motivation theory, this study explores consumers' motivation to engage in adaptive behaviour envisioned through a transition from offline to online clothing purchasing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, this paper explores the conditioning effects of consumer resilience and satisfaction with retailers' assistive intent through the consumer well-being framework.Design/methodology/approachA total of 363 useable surveys were obtained from Croatian consumers. Data were analysed with confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling.FindingsCoping appraisal positively impacts adaptive behaviour by increasing online clothing purchase intention, while threat appraisal has no direct effect on adaptive behaviour. The relationship between threat appraisal and adaptive behaviour is negatively moderated by consumer resilience and satisfaction with the retailer's assistive intent.Research limitations/implicationsLimitations include the convenience sampling method and data collection at one point as well as the focus on consumers from one country.Practical implicationsThis study provides a blueprint for designing marketing actions that retail managers should consider to respond to a crisis effectively while maintaining satisfactory buying experiences during health crises and other challenging events.Originality/valueGiven the unique research context, i.e. the COVID-19 pandemic, this study is one of the few and the first in Croatia to unfold the importance of protection motivation theory in providing a greater understanding of consumer's adaptive behaviour (transition from offline to online) in online clothing retail channels during the period of the global health-related crisis. Benefits from understanding consumers' coping and threat appraisal mechanisms while addressing their buying needs in adverse circumstances are revealed. In addition, the theoretical implications regarding the conditional effects of consumer resilience and consumer satisfaction with retailers' assistive intent during a pandemic are also provided.

Consumer's transition to online clothing buying during the COVID-19 pandemic: exploration through protection motivation theory and consumer well-being

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are increasingly used to procure Australian infrastructure projects. As with all construction projects, the early briefing stages are often the most crucial in determining a successful outcome. There is, however, a lack of systematic research on the type and nature of the critical factors affecting the effectiveness and efficiency of PPP during this period. A literature review is presented of PPP usage in Australia, in which four main categories of factors (procurement, stakeholder, risk, and finance) are identified, each with several subfactors. A questionnaire survey involving state government stakeholders is also described, and a mathematical model that ranks the factors involved is developed. This is followed by an examination of the potential of the factors to help improve the PPP briefing
stage for both public and private sectors.

Ranked critical factors in PPP briefings

The “Academic Discourses” on “Public and Private” partnerships in “Infrastructure Development” often involve the issues of “User’s Perceptions and “Employee Satisfaction” as two different ideologies work together. Multi party (private builders, developers, employees and users) work arrangements in infrastructure development owe a history of conflict and anxieties across the existing literature. Commuter utilizing PPP run bus terminals were found to be more satisfied vis-a-vis the commuters across Non-PPP run organizations in transport sectors across Punjab. With regard to bus terminals, the “Maintenance” of service levels matter and this factor was observed to dominate and exhibit maximum possible variance. The access coverage and volume capability needs to be retained and enhanced in order to reap the benefits of public private mode of bus terminal operations.

Role of Public Private Partnership in Bus Terminals: A Case Study of Punjab

The global energy demand has been increasing and posing multiple challenges across the globe, including global warming, environmental pollution, and energy-sustainability issues. Thus, multiple countries have been adopting renewable-energy (RE) sources to provide clean, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. Previously, a number of renewable energy projects has been delivered in the form of a public–private partnership (PPP) to take advantage of the private sector’s investment, technology advancements, and expertise. In general, renewable-energy projects are considered large-scale universal projects that involve expertise from different countries and require a clear understanding of the barriers and key success factors (KSFs) across the globe. Thus, this paper focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of the main barriers and success factors of renewable-energy projects across the globe. For that aim, a comprehensive literature review was first carried out to identify and report on the barriers and KSFs of renewable-energy projects. This was followed by a questionnaire survey wherein the opinions of 60 experts with wide experience in RE PPPs in multiple countries were collected and analyzed. The analysis shows that political and regulatory barriers are the main risks globally. Additionally, well-prepared contract documentations and skilled and efficient parties are the KSFs. However, these factors change from one continent to another. Additionally, this paper sheds light on the difference between the public and private sectors’ perceptions on the severity of the risks and the importance of the KSFs to each sector.

Identification of the Barriers and Key Success Factors for Renewable Energy Public-Private Partnership Projects: A Continental Analysis


Purpose
This study aims at conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) to identify the critical success factors (CSFs) for solar home systems (SHSs) implementation in public housing projects.


Design/methodology/approach
This study is based on an SLR to identify the CSFs for SHS implementation in public housing. It reviewed published literature between 2000 and 2021. A summative content analysis approach is followed to analyze the qualitative content of published literature on CSFs for SHSs implementation in public housing.


Findings
The review outcomes identified a total of 44 CSFs, which are classified into six main fundamental categories, including political, financial, technical, social, marketing and environmental. The results indicated that government support is the most significant CSF for SHS implementation in public housing, followed by installation quality, maintenance and monitoring and effective policies and legal framework. The published literature mostly agrees that the CSFs are regionally specific, and stakeholders play an essential role in defining SHS programs’ indicators and success factors.


Originality/value
Lack of success and discontinuity of some SHS programs are deterring, especially for governments initiatives. Identifying CSFs associated with the success of some programs and understanding why other programs were less successful are essential requirements for improving the success of future projects. This study is intended to provide governments, policy-makers and program implementers with a list of the most significant CSFs for use when developing a success model to evaluate and measure the potential for investment in SHSs in the public housing sector.

Shopping Safety Practices Mutate Consumer Buying Behaviour during COVID-19 Pandemic

PurposeThe COVID-19 pandemic has transformed consumer buying behavior across the world. COVID-19 crisis brought a behavioral change in consumers' attitudes toward health, financial and social well-being. The current research work highlights the factors influencing consumer buying behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic considering saving and safety perspectives.Design/methodology/approachThis study attempts to understand the gap in buying behavior with reference to saving and safety. Survey-based study was conducted during the second phase of COVID-19, and the respondents were those who lived in highly affected COVID cities in India. Exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were carried out for testing the hypotheses.FindingsSeven factors became the prominent factors in consumer buying patterns during the pandemic. Consumers in the times of COVID-19 pandemic spend only on essential items as compared to nice-to-have and non-essential items.Research limitations/implicationsRespondents considered in the research were millennials aged 25–40. The current research is limited to specific geographic location.Practical implicationsThe study assessed how savings and safety influence consumer buying behavior. The 2S framework model for consumer buying behavior during pandemic has been developed. The findings of the study provides a road map to the companies, policy makers, managers and consumers in understanding the consumer buying behavior during pandemic.Originality/valueThe current research work observe the changes in the behavioral patterns of consumers in the context of 2S framework, i.e. saving and safety. This study offer novel contribution as there is no available literature that examined the saving and safety aspects together for consumer buying behavior during crisis.
