Links between binary classification and the assignment problem in ordered hypothesis machines

TL;DR: A new connection between OHM training and the Linear Assignment problem, a combinatorial optimization problem that can be solved efficiently with (amongst others) the Hungarian algorithm is reported.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Trade-offs between inference and learning in image segmentation

TL;DR: This paper uses a novel, computationally efficient, family of networks to investigate the trade-off between two traditional extremes in image segmentation, and finds that at one extreme are inference networks that minimize a correlation clustering energy function and at the other extreme are learning networks that minimizing a Rand Error loss function.

Wide-Area Imagery

TL;DR: Advances that have been made and the advances that will be needed to produce the hierarchy of computational models required to narrow the semantic gap in WAMI are described.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A scalable learning system for video recognition

TL;DR: Initial software experiments which use the Harpo system to segment exhaust plumes coming from military vehicles in unmanned aerial vehicle video data are presented.
