Journal ArticleDOI
First-night effect in normal subjects and psychiatric inpatients.
M. Toussaint,Remy Luthringer,N. Schaltenbrand,Gabriella Carelli,Eric Lainey,Anne Jacqmin,Alain Muzet,Jean-Paul Macher +7 more
TL;DR: The results showed clearly that there was a first-night effect in normal subjects, similar to that reported in previously published data, characterized by a longer rapid eye movement (REM) sleep latency (p < 0.05), increased wakefulness, and total sleep time and a decreased sleep efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sleep Stage Scoring Using the Neural Network Model: Comparison Between Visual and Automatic Analysis in Normal Subjects and Patients
N. Schaltenbrand,Régis Lengellé,M. Toussaint,Remy Luthringer,Gabriella Carelli,Anne Jacqmin,E. Lainey,Alain Muzet,J.-P. Macher +8 more
TL;DR: Bearing in mind the composition and the size of the test sample, the automated sleep staging system achieved a satisfactory performance level and may be considered a useful alternative to visual sleep stage scoring for large-scale investigations of human sleep.
Journal ArticleDOI
A quantitative evaluation of the relationships between growth hormone secretion and delta wave electroencephalographic activity during normal sleep and after enrichment in delta waves.
Claude Gronfier,Remy Luthringer,Marguerite Follenius,N. Schaltenbrand,J.-P. Macher,Alain Muzet,Gabrielle Brandenberger +6 more
TL;DR: A close temporal and quantitative relationship between GH secretion and delta wave activity is demonstrated, which may be evidence of common stimulatory mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of TC-1734 (AZD3480), a selective neuronal nicotinic receptor agonist, on cognitive performance and the EEG of young healthy male volunteers.
G. Dunbar,Peter Boeijinga,A. Demazières,C. Cisterni,R. Kuchibhatla,Keith Wesnes,Remy Luthringer +6 more
TL;DR: These early data in healthy subjects provide encouragement to consider development of AZD3480 as a novel agent for the treatment of cognitive decline in the elderly, including age-associated memory impairment and/or dementia of the Alzheimer’s type.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of prolonged-release melatonin on sleep measures and psychomotor performance in elderly patients with insomnia.
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of prolonged-release melatonin 2 mg (PRM) on sleep and subsequent daytime psychomotor performance in patients aged > or =55 years with primary insomnia, as defined by the fourth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association Patients (N = 40) were treated nightly single-blind with placebo (2 weeks), randomized double-blind to PRM or placebo (3 weeks) followed by withdrawal period (1 week).
