Ease of use and usefulness are believed to be fundamental in determining the acceptance and use of various, corporate ITs. These beliefs, however, may not explain the user’s behavior toward newly emerging ITs, such as the World-Wide-Web (WWW). In this study, we introduce playfulness as a new factor that reflects the user’s intrinsic belief in WWW acceptance. A review of metaheuristic scheduling techniques in cloud computing

Wearables as medical technologies are becoming an integral part of personal analytics, measuring physical status, recording physiological parameters, or informing schedule for medication. These continuously evolving technology platforms do not only promise to help people pursue a healthier life style, but also provide continuous medical data for actively tracking metabolic status, diagnosis, and treatment. Advances in the miniaturization of flexible electronics, electrochemical biosensors, microfluidics, and artificial intelligence algorithms have led to wearable devices that can generate real-time medical data within the Internet of things. These flexible devices can be configured to make conformal contact with epidermal, ocular, intracochlear, and dental interfaces to collect biochemical or electrophysiological signals. This article discusses consumer trends in wearable electronics, commercial and emerging devices, and fabrication methods. It also reviews real-time monitoring of vital signs using biosensors, stimuli-responsive materials for drug delivery, and closed-loop theranostic systems. It covers future challenges in augmented, virtual, and mixed reality, communication modes, energy management, displays, conformity, and data safety. The development of patient-oriented wearable technologies and their incorporation in randomized clinical trials will facilitate the design of safe and effective approaches.

A range of digitized health promotion practices have emerged in the digital era. Some of these practices are voluntarily undertaken by people who are interested in improving their health and fitness, but many others are employed in the interests of organizations and agencies. This article provides a critical commentary on digitized health promotion. I begin with an overview of the types of digital technologies that are used for health promotion, and follow this with a discussion of the socio-political implications of such use. It is contended that many digitized health promotion strategies focus on individual responsibility for health and fail to recognize the social, cultural and political dimensions of digital technology use. The increasing blurring between voluntary health promotion practices, professional health promotion, government and corporate strategies requires acknowledgement, as does the increasing power wielded by digital media corporations over digital technologies and the data they generate. These issues provoke questions for health promotion as a practice and field of research that hitherto have been little addressed.

Investigating the effectiveness of technologies applied to assist seniors: A systematic literature review.

Background: A three-dimensional virtual world (3DVW) is a computer-simulated electronic 3D virtual environment that users can explore, inhabit, communicate, and interact with via avatars, which are graphical representations of the users. Since the early 2000s, 3DVWs have emerged as a technology that has much to offer the health care sector. Objective: The purpose of this study was to characterize different application areas of various 3DVWs in health and medical context and categorize them into meaningful categories. Methods: This study employs a systematic literature review on the application areas of 3DVWs in health care. Our search resulted in 62 papers from five top-ranking scientific databases published from 1990 to 2013 that describe the use of 3DVWs for health care specific purposes. We noted a growth in the number of academic studies on the topic since 2006. Results: We found a wide range of application areas for 3DVWs in health care and classified them into the following six categories: academic education, professional education, treatment, evaluation, lifestyle, and modeling. The education category, including professional and academic education, contains the largest number of papers (n=34), of which 23 are related to the academic education category and 11 to the professional education category. Nine papers are allocated to treatment category, and 8 papers have contents related to evaluation. In 4 of the papers, the authors used 3DVWs for modeling, and 3 papers targeted lifestyle purposes. The results indicate that most of the research to date has focused on education in health care. We also found that most studies were undertaken in just two countries, the United States and the United Kingdom. Conclusions: 3D virtual worlds present several innovative ways to carry out a wide variety of health-related activities. The big picture of application areas of 3DVWs presented in this review could be of value and offer insights to both the health care community and researchers.

A Decade of Research on the Use of Three-Dimensional Virtual Worlds in Health Care: A Systematic Literature Review

Three‐dimensional virtual world (3DVW) have been adopted extensively in the education sector worldwide, and there has been remarkable growth in the application of these environments for distance learning. A wide variety of universities and educational organizations across the world have utilized this technology for their regular learning and teaching programs. The current study conducts a systematic review of the published studies relevant to the application of 3DVWs in higher education. A search of the literature was carried out in eight high‐ranking scientific digital libraries. Following scrutiny according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, 165 papers out of 1402 publications were selected for review from a variety of disciplines over a 10‐year time period. The systematic review process were summarised, a number of paper reviews were conducted and results in conjunction with applicability of 3DVWs in higher education were extracted. In this study, various application areas of 3DVWs in higher education were found and classified into 13 main categories. Investigating various application areas of three‐dimensional virtual worlds for higher education

Influence maximization is the process of identifying a small set of influential nodes from a complex network to maximize the number of activation nodes. Due to the critical issues such as accuracy, stability, and time complexity in selecting the seed set, many studies and algorithms has been proposed in recent decade. However, most of the influence maximization algorithms run into major challenges such as the lack of optimal seed nodes selection, unsuitable influence spread, and high time complexity. In this paper intends to solve the mentioned challenges, by decreasing the search space to reduce the time complexity. Furthermore, It selects the seed nodes with more optimal influence spread concerning the characteristics of a community structure, diffusion capability of overlapped and hub nodes within and between communities, and the probability coefficient of global diffusion. The proposed algorithm, called the FIP algorithm, primarily detects the overlapping communities, weighs the communities, and analyzes the emotional relationships of the community’s nodes. Moreover, the search space for choosing the seed nodes is limited by removing insignificant communities. Then, the candidate nodes are generated using the effect of the probability of global diffusion. Finally, the role of important nodes and the diffusion impact of overlapping nodes in the communities are measured to select the final seed nodes. Experimental results in real-world and synthetic networks indicate that the proposed FIP algorithm has significantly outperformed other algorithms in terms of efficiency and runtime. 

FIP: A fast overlapping community-based influence maximization algorithm using probability coefficient of global diffusion in social networks

Mobile ad hoc networks are special kind of wireless networks, there is no fixed structure in these networks but they have nodes movement ability that add their complexity. These networks are established without defined structure and mostly used in military services, rescue operation in damaged areas, conferences and etc. According to these networks characteristics, different routing protocols have been proposed, it can be addressed to AODV protocol. In this paper we have optimized AODV routing protocol performance by using link availability prediction in urban area by Hello message mechanism. In order to modeling urban area we employed Manhattan mobility model for node's movement. The results of simulations show that new method reduces message overhead and average of broken links metrics relative to classic AODV algorithm.

Our systematic review began with an initial set of 1088 studies published from 1990 to 2013 which have used 3DVWs for the healthcare specific purposes. We found a variety of areas of application for the 3DVWs in healthcare, and categorised them into the following categories: education, treatment, evaluation, lifestyle and simulation. The presented big picture of application areas of 3DVWs in this study can be very valuable and insightful for the researchers and healthcare community.
