Journal ArticleDOI
Photosynthetic pigments, nitrogen, chlorophyll a fluorescence and SPAD-502 readings in coffee leaves
TL;DR: The SPAD-502 has been shown to be a good tool to diagnose the integrity of the photosynthetic system in coffee leaves, and can thus help in the advanced interpretations of the photochemical process of these plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Abscisic acid is involved in the response of grape (Vitis vinifera L.) cv. Malbec leaf tissues to ultraviolet-B radiation by enhancing ultraviolet-absorbing compounds, antioxidant enzymes and membrane sterols
Federico J. Berli,Daniela Moreno,Patricia Piccoli,Leandro Hespanhol-Viana,M. Fernanda Silva,Ricardo Bressan-Smith,J. Bruno Cavagnaro,Rubén Bottini +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the defence system of grape leaf tissues against UV-B is activated byUV-B irradiation with ABA acting downstream in the signalling pathway, as assessed by ion leakage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accumulation of SALT protein in rice plants as a response to environmental stresses
Gonçalo Apolinário de Souza Filho,Beatriz dos Santos Ferreira,Janice Maria Ribeiro Dias,Karlla Salim de Queiroz,Alan T. Branco,Ricardo Bressan-Smith,Jurandi Gonçalves de Oliveira,Ana Beatriz Garcia +7 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the damage caused in photochemical efficiency of photosynthesis under salinity conditions in these cultivars revealed no correlation between the levels of SALT protein expression and sensitivity to the stress, indicating that the expression of Salt protein is not restricted to responses to environmental stresses and that high levels of expression do not confer tolerance to salinity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Desempenho do abacaxizeiro 'vitória' em resposta à aplicação de ácidos húmicos durante a aclimatação
Lílian Estrela Borges Baldotto,Marihus Altoé Baldotto,Validoro Bazoni Giro,Luciano Pasqualoto Canellas,Fábio Lopes Olivares,Ricardo Bressan-Smith +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the greenhouse acclimatization of 'Vitoria' pineapple propagated by plant tissue culture in response to different doses of humic acids isolated from vermicompost and filter cake.
Journal ArticleDOI
UV-B impairs growth and gas exchange in grapevines grown in high altitude
TL;DR: The defense mechanisms triggered by + UV-B reduced lipid peroxidation, but they were insufficient to protect the photosynthetic pigments per leaf dry weight basis, and the +UV-B effects depend on tissues developmental stage and interplay with other environmental conditions such as total radiation and air temperatures.
