Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the number of connected antenna molecules between which energy transfer is possible decreases from about 1000 to about 150 when the temperature is lowered from 298 to 4 K.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used picosecond absorption spectroscopy with low intensity (5 · 1011−5 · 1000 photons · pulse−1 · cm−2) continuously tunable infrared (800-900 nm) pulses to study the energy transfer dynamics in the isolated B800-850 pigment-protein complex of Rhodobacter sphaeroides.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Nuijs and Duysens as mentioned in this paper measured the absorption difference spectra of Rhodospirillum rubrum by means of picosecond-absorption spectroscopy, and showed that at low excitation energy density, the lifetime of singlet-excited antenna bacteriochlorophyll was 80 ± 10 ps when the reaction centers were initially open and 200 ± 400 ps if the primary electron donor was oxidized.
