Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in markers of muscle damage, inflammation and HSP70 after an Ironman triathlon race
Katsuhiko Suzuki,Jonathan M. Peake,Kazunori Nosaka,Mitsuharu Okutsu,Chris R. Abbiss,Rob Surriano,David Bishop,Mark J Quod,Hamilton Lee,David T. Martin,Paul B. Laursen +10 more
TL;DR: Despite evidence of muscle damage and an acute phase response after the race, the pro- inflammatory cytokine response was minimal and anti-inflammatory cytokines were induced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic pacing strategies during the cycle phase of an Ironman triathlon.
Chris R. Abbiss,Marc J. Quod,David T. Martin,Kevin Netto,Kazunori Nosaka,Hamilton Lee,Rob Surriano,David Bishop,Paul B. Laursen +8 more
TL;DR: Evidence is shown that a nonlinear dynamic pacing strategy is used by well-trained triathletes throughout various segments and conditions of the Ironman cycle phase, and an increased variation in torque and speed was found in the headwind versus the tailwind condition.
