Chemical vapor deposition of titanium nitride on carbon fibres as a protective layer in metal matrix composites
TL;DR: In this paper, continuous carbon fiber roving with 6000 filaments were coated with TiN by thermal induced chemical vapour deposition (CVD) using a gas mixture of TiCl 4, N 2 and H 2 as a precursor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Process specific catalyst supports—Selective electron beam melted cellular metal structures coated with microporous carbon
Tilman Knorr,Peter Heinl,Jan Schwerdtfeger,Carolin Körner,Robert F. Singer,Bastian J. M. Etzold +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that for a successful deposition of the microporous carbon a protective oxide layer on top of the metal structure is necessary and tested in the hydrogenation of ethene.
Journal ArticleDOI
CVD diamond coating of steel on a CVD-TiBN interlayer
TL;DR: The suitability of CVD-TiBN interlayers for diamond deposition on 41Cr4 steel substrates was investigated in this paper, where the diamond coating onto the TiBN interlayer showed very good adhesion and high compressive stresses in the diamond film with a high diamond quality.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of liquid metal cooling on thermal gradients in directional solidification of superalloys: Thermal analysis
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of casting and baffle geometry, mold thickness as well as withdrawal speed on solidification conditions and resulting microstructure was examined for the case of simple cylindrical castings and found that the nature of the baffle has a stronger effect than the different mechanism of heat dissipation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth stages of chemical vapor deposited diamond on the titanium alloy Ti6Al-4V
TL;DR: In this paper, a model describing the process of chemical vapor deposition of diamond onto Ti6Al-4V is developed, which is used to characterize different stages of deposition.
