A minireview of the pathogenesis of acute leptospirosis

TL;DR: A syndrome of disseminated intravascular coagulation was associated with the physiopathogenesis of experimental leptospirosis with L. icterohaemorrhagiae and it appears now that other spirochetal infections (borreliosis) have a similar pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serological follow-up in breeding herds infected with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae Serotype 1 using the tube agglutination test with 2-mercaptoethanol

TL;DR: It was found that the proportion of seropositive sows as well as their titers tended to decrease with age, and the correlation between the serological status of the piglets at 3 days of age and at 8 weeks was inconsistent, strongly suggestive of the appearance of an active immunity among these animals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Case study of copper poisoning in a British dairy herd

TL;DR: Analysis of the ration for the high-yielding Jersey cow group revealed about 50 mg Cu/kg dry matter intake (DMI), and risk factors predisposing to fatal CCP were Jersey breed, previous high yield, first two weeks of the dry period and moderately high dietary Cu.
Journal ArticleDOI

Causes of red squirrel ( Sciurus vulgaris ) mortality in England

TL;DR: Examinations of wild squirrels submitted to the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA) Diseases of Wildlife Scheme (VLADoWS) in England, as part of the Great Britain Wildlife Disease scheme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Some serological properties ofActinobacillus pleuropneumoniae strains of serotypes 1 through 5

TL;DR: Rabbits were hyperimmunized with live, formalin-killed, and heat-treated antigen preparations of the reference strains of serotypes 1 through 5 ofActinobacillus pleuropneumoniae in order to study the antibody response to both soluble and particulate antigens.
