Journal ArticleDOI
The Role of Endogenous Auxins and Ethylene in the Formation of Adventitious Roots and Hypocotyl Hypertrophy in Flooded Sunflower Plants (Helianthus annuus)
Robert L. Wample,David M. Reid +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that flood-induced adventitious root formation is stimulated primarily by an accumulation of auxins in the hypocotyls, with ethylene being the major factor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Control of Adventitious Root Production and Hypocotyl Hypertrophy of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) in Response to Flooding
Robert L. Wample,David M. Reid +1 more
TL;DR: Experiments suggested that a major factor causing the flood-induced changes in the hypocotyl arises in the root but other factors may come from the leaves, and there was no apparent contribution of adventitious roots to the survival of flooded plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of aeration on the flood-induced formation of adventitious roots and other changes in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)
Robert L. Wample,David M. Reid +1 more
TL;DR: The effects of flooding, flooding with aeration, and no flooding of the root system on shoot growth was studied in sunflower plants, finding that the responses of shoots appear to be brought about by the anaerobic condition of the roots.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolism of Gibberellin A4 by Vegetative Shoots of Douglas Fir at Three Stages of Ontogeny
TL;DR: Vegetative shoots of coastal Douglas fir seedlings rapidly metabolized 1,2[3H]-gibberllin A4 (GA4) to GA2, GA34 and 6 unknown acidie, ethyl acetate-soluble compounds, which may regulate the effective level of biologically active exogenous and/or endogenous GAs in this conifer.
