How to overcome imaging problems associated with carbonate minerals on sem-based cathodoluminescence systems
Robert M. Reed,Kitty L. Milliken +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a broadband, short-wavelength (UV-blue range) filter was used to acquire images using only the shorter wavelengths, most easily done by using a broadband and shortwavelength filter, which allowed transmission of the relatively nonpersistent UV-violet luminescence present in most carbonates in the range of 350 to 425 nm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Opening histories of fractures in sandstone
TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution scanning electron microscope (SEM)-based cathodoluminescence images were used to reconstruct incremental fracture opening in regional opening-mode fractures in sandstone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proterozoic granites of the Llano Uplift, Texas: A collision–related suite containing rapakivi and topaz granites
Daniel S. Barker,Robert M. Reed +1 more
TL;DR: Proterozoic granites in the Llano Uplift, central Texas, intruded metamorphic rocks in a southern segment of the Grenville orogen.
Low-Thermal-Maturity (0.7% VR) Mudrock Pore Systems: Mississippian Barnett Shale, Southern Fort Worth Basin

Journal ArticleDOI
Grain assemblages and diagenesis in the Vaca Muerta Formation (Jurassic-Cretaceous), Neuquén Basin, Argentina
Kitty L. Milliken,Robert M. Reed,Douglas K. McCarty,James W. Bishop,C.J. Lipinski,Timothy B. Fischer,Luisa Crousse,Hernán M. Reijenstein +7 more
TL;DR: The Vaca Muerta Formation (Tithonian-early Valanginian; Neuquen Basin, Argentina) contains grain assemblages of mixed extrabasinal and intra-basin derivation as discussed by the authors.
