Optimization of mechanical oil extraction from Jatropha curcas L. kernel using response surface method

TL;DR: In this paper, a face centered composite design of experiments was employed to study and optimize the effect of applied pressure, pressing temperature and moisture content on oil recovery, and a quadratic polynomial model was generated to predict oil recovery and was found to cover 98% of the range for the factors studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical extraction of oil from Jatropha curcas L. kernel: Effect of processing parameters

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of process parameters on oil recovery from Jatropha kernel and found that the preferred moisture content was about 4% (w.b.) for 10min of pressing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodiesel synthesis from Jatropha curcas L. oil and ethanol in a continuous centrifugal contactor separator

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) from Jatropha curcas L oil was studied in a batch reactor and a continuous centrifugal contactor separator (CCCS) using sodium ethoxide as the catalyst.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and properties of highly branched Jatropha curcas L. oil derivatives

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis and properties of a number of branched Jatropha curcas L. oil derivatives containing vicinal di-ester units in the fatty acid chains are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental and Modeling Studies on the Synthesis and Properties of Higher Fatty Esters of Corn Starch

TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic study on the synthesis of higher fatty esters of corn starch (starch laurate and starch stearate) by using the corresponding vinyl esters was carried out in DMSO using basic catalysts.
