Dialysis information management system
TL;DR: In this paper, a server device, and related systems and methods for managing dialysis patient information are described, which includes information relating to stages of data collection including baseline characteristics, eligibility for treatment modalities, and outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effectiveness and Cost of Weekly Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator Hemodialysis Catheter Locking Solution
Brenda R. Hemmelgarn,Braden J. Manns,Steven D. Soroka,Adeera Levin,Jennifer M. MacRae,Karthik K. Tennankore,Jo-Anne Wilson,Robert G. Weaver,Pietro Ravani,Robert R. Quinn,Marcello Tonelli,Mercedeh Kiaii,Paula Mossop,Nairne Scott-Douglas +13 more
TL;DR: The results showing a reduction in rescue rt-PA use are consistent with a prior randomized trial, although there was no difference in the rate of bacteremia, or catheter stripping or removal/replacement, and the increase in mean total health care cost in the post period was CAD$962 per enrollment, largely related to costs of rT-PA as a locking solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shared Decision-Making for a Dialysis Modality
Xueqing Yu,Masaaki Nakayama,Mai-Szu Wu,Yong-Lim Kim,Lily Mushahar,Cheuk-Chun Szeto,Dori Schatell,Fredric O. Finkelstein,Robert R. Quinn,Michelle Duddington +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of shared decision-making (SDM) in helping those with kidney failure to select a dialysis modality was examined, and it was found that SDM can lead to more people feeling satisfied with their choice of kidney failure.
Dialysis Modalities for the Treatment of End-Stage Kidney Disease: A Health Technology Assessment
Alison Sinclair,Karen Cimon,Mirhad Loncar,Manish M. Sood,Paul Komenda,Melissa Severn,Scott Klarenbach,Helen So,Bernice Tsoi,Robert R. Quinn,Robert P. Pauly,Marcello Tonelli,Braden J. Manns,Tamara Rader,Kristen Moulton,Eftyhia Helis,Janet Crain,Daryl Pullman +17 more
TL;DR: The aim of this health technology assessment is to inform policy questions regarding the optimal treatment for eligible patients and effective methods of implementation support for the various dialysis options reviewed through an assessment of the clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, patient experiences and perspectives, ethical issues, and implementation issues of dialysis modalities for the treatment of end-stage kidney disease.
