Research has considered phonemic awareness skill as effective pillar in acquiring literacy skills. This skill has been identified as prerequisite for reading success However, little is known about the phonemic awareness instruction of Jordanian EFL emergent readers. This study therefore explored the impact of phonemic awareness instruction on word recognition among Jordanian EFL emergent readers. In this study, the research instrument was semi-structured interviews. Seven EFL students of emergent readers were interviewed. They were all first graders aged 7 years on average. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicated that there is a lack of knowledge or misunderstanding between the term of phonics and phonemic awareness as well. It has been also found that emergent readers’ views show positive support towards the use of phonemic awareness skill. At the end of the study, some pedagogical implications for curriculum designers as well as English teachers were provided accordingly .

The influence of phonemic awareness instruction on efl emergent readers’ word recognition

This study examines the syntactic behavior of question words (tembung pitakon) in the interrogative construction in Javanese. This study aimed to analyze the question words of all interrogative types in the language. Therefore, the research data cover question words known as tembung pitakon in Javanese which are derived from the relevant literature. The theoretical framework used in this study is the X-bar theory proposed by Haegeman (1992). The data analysis techniques used in this research were distributed methods which use the language element determination tool itself. The results show that the Javanese partial sentence has a grammatical and complementary grammatical function, while the total question sentence has a complement function. Javanese question words can be constructed by specifier, complements, and adverbials. The Javanese question sentence formed by specifier functions as an internal structure occupied by the NP and joined by I’ to form an IP. Furthermore, the question words formed by complement functions as an internal structure occupied by PP or NP and joined by V to form the first V'. Finally, the question words formed by adverbial functions as an internal structure that can be occupied by PP or NP to join the first V' then form the second V'

This article is to (1) describe the persentage rate in relationship (2) betwenn Batak Toba and Batak Mandailing Languange, counting the time space when these two languanges were once separated, (3) to the describe the sound correspondence between Batak Toba and Batak Mandailing languange. This research’s data is two hundred Swadesh words added with twohundred cultural words as qualitatif proff. These four hundred words is also used as the instrument of this research. First, the amount of related words between Batak Toba and Batak Mandailing languange are 128 words and the paersentage rate between those two languange is 64%. Second, the time space between Batak Toba and Batak Mandailing languange is 1027 years ago, counting from now (2013). Third, the proofs/evidences of sound correspondence between Batak Toba and Batak Mandailing languange.

Interrogative Sentence in Mandailing Language: X-bar Theory.  This study aims to analyze grammatical and lexical structure in interrogative sentence in Mandailing language. The  study of this interrogative sentence structure applies X-bar  theory as one of the generative syntax subtheories. This type of research includes qualitative research using distributional method. The data were collected through interview and observation. The result of the study showed that the wh-question in Mandailing language had grammatical function as spesifier and komplement, while the total question sentence had a function as a komplement. Interrogative sentence in Mandailing language formed by spesifiers, komplements, and adverb.

Bentuk homonim ini bukan sahaja wujud dalam satu bahasa masyarakat yang sama, tetapi turut dijumpai dalam beberapa bahasa yang berlainan latar belakang penuturnya. Oleh itu, makalah ini akan memfokus kepada bentuk istilah yang sama ejaan dan sama sebutannya dalam dialek Melayu Sarawak (DMS) dengan bahasa Melanau. Data-data yang dibincangkan dalam makalah ini diambil daripada data yang telah didokumenkan. dan juga berdasarkan data yang dikumpul oleh penulis melalui catatan lapangan. Sumber data sekunder yang digunakan ialah Kamus Melanau Mukah – Melayu Dewan (2011) dan Daftar Kata Dialek Melayu Sarawak Edisi Kedua (1998). Penelitian ini mendapati bahawa terdapat kosa kata yang sama ejaan dan sama sebutan dalam bahasa Melanau sememangnya mempunyai persamaan dan juga perbezaan makna dalam DMS.

As a symbol of identity, pride, and support the development of Bahasa Indonesian, the study of the local language is required. One of them is Mandailing language, a local language with the majority of speakers in the area of Mandailing Natal Regency , Indonesia . This research deals with (1) what is the homonymy form in Mandailing language? (2) how is homonymy relation in Mandailing language. The objectives of this research are: (1) to explain homonymy forms in Mandailing language; (2) to describe homonymy relations in the Mandailing language. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data is oral data through key informants. Based on the analysis and discussion of data, it is known that (1) homonymy form in Mandailing language includes single form (free morpheme) and complex form (complex morpheme), (2) homonymy relations in Mandailing language include relations in two meanings and relations in three meanings.
