Azasteroids as inhibitors of rat prostatic 5 alpha-reductase.
Gary H. Rasmusson,Glenn F. Reynolds,Torleif Utne,Ronald B. Jobson,R. L. Primka,Charles Berman,J. R. Brooks +6 more
TL;DR: A series of A-ring heterocyclic steroids has been prepared and tested for inhibition of rat prostatic steroid 5 alpha-reductase in vitro and strikingly high inhibitory activity was found with a group of 17 beta-substituted 4-methyl-4-aza-5 alpha-androstan-3-ones.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new general method for preparation of N-methoxy-N-methylamides. Application in direct conversion of an ester to a ketone
J. Michael Williams,Ronald B. Jobson,Nobuyoshi Yasuda,G. Marchesini,Ulf-H. Dolling,Edward J. J. Grabowski +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the azasteroid 5α-reductase inhibitor MK-0434 is described for the direct conversion of a highly hindered ester to a ketone, and the reaction of an ester with N, O -dimethylhydroxylamine and a suitable organomagnesium reagent or lithium amide base is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation of (4-Amino-1-Hydroxybutylidene)bisphosphonic Acid Sodium Salt, MK-217 (Alendronate Sodium). An Improved Procedure for the Preparation of 1-Hydroxy-1,1-bisphosphonic Acids
Kieczykowski Gerald R,Ronald B. Jobson,David G. Melillo,Reinhold Donald F,Grenda Victor J,Ichiro Shinkai +5 more

Process for preparing 4-amino-1-hydroxybutylidene-1,1-bisphosphonic acid (ABP) or salts thereof
TL;DR: In this paper, an improved process for the preparation of 4-amino-1-hydroxybutylidene-1,1-bisophosphonic acid (ABP) or salts thereof is described.

4-aza-17-substituted-5-alpha-androstan-3-one, their a and d homo analogs, process for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing them
David B. R. Johnston,Reinhold Donald F,Gary H. Rasmusson,Torleif Utne,Arth Glen E,Ronald B. Jobson +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the A-and D-homomorphisms of the 5aandrostan-3.4-Aza-17-substituted-5a-androstan 3.1-ones and their A and D homo analogs of the formula:
